When installing the alpha 8045 heatsink, am I supposed to be able to see any screw between the bottom of the heatsink and the standoffs? I've tightened screws to the point where the springs aren't compacting anymore, but rather the screws and standoffs are turning together without any progress being made. Is this what is supposed to happen, or am I doing something wrong?
Welcome to the forum!
Could you be more specific? I cracked a processor with this heatsink, be careful!

Yes that is what is supposed to happen. You are bottomed out, good to go etc.

The Alpha instructions say you may need to add additional nylon washers if enough pressure is not applied to the cpu chip. As stated above once the screws bottom out your done.
u are done don't over tighten the screws. you are just turning them.
