Within 3 month of period, i managed to kill one 800e, one 800eb and one 600e. But they are not lonely tho, for there are one more Intel and one more unknown board going with them. The only thing left for me is my Sill 300a@450, i just cannot get it any higher even with the help of P3125..:( No computer stuff for me this year as my Mom told me, "you will only kill them." Yeah, this X'mas, only my 300a with me. By the way, i may have to report a potential fraud to you guys(may post it separately later, depends) I purchased a 700e from a guy named, Matt Hewl. Anyway, the transition was done last month, and to date, i see nothing in my mail box. I tried to mail him several times, and his only response was "late mail i guess." IF anyone knows about this guy, please tell me, he uses this email address, "matt_cs02@hotmail.com.
I am pretty convinced that he is one of users of this forum, for he mailed me after i posted my ad for wanting a 700e through here. Thanx.
You do ruin things :). I have gone through many processor in the past year and have not burned out one of them. Some of us learn through other's mistakes, some the hard way, yet others not at all :p.
Never heard of the seller, I only buy through eBay and even then I'm skeptical. When in doubt buy from a business and have your parents charge it on their credit card, sometimes that's your only recourse since you can contest the charge and file it as fraud (which it would be considered).

Guess what? i forgot to add my PII 233...:) :( yeah, it is gone for only god's why. I did not even touch it, and it just.....
How do you burn so many chips?
I mean you should really monitor those temps...
:) The overheating will occur any moment when you oc it so.. I'd pull out a burning proggy as soon as I oced and motherboard monitor and then I would make sure if it starts exceeding 47-48 even I would turn it down a notch.

Dudes, don't get me wrong here!! None of them went away because of extensive heat problem!! And i won't list all the reasons why they tragically die, for it is too long and painful for me. Anyway, my gal has promised to give her celeron 500 to me as a present for the holiday!! yes!!! i love her so damn much!! :D

If I'm guessing your crushing the core then?
Get a CPU Spacer to avoid some chances of the core being cracked. But what is it exactly? Maybe we can figure out a solution that will prevent you from killing it.

Nope, none of them got killed that way either. Ok, just let me state reasons for ya. 600e get killed during the process of removing the cover, 800eb..put it into an intel oem board only support ppga type, and 800e, i electrifying it to death, and 233..i have no idea why it wont work anymore...

The 600e doesn't have a cap. The 800eb is a PPGA cpu.

?_? 800eb is a PPGA cpu? i have a PIII 800eb FCPGA cpu. About the 600e, i was try to expose the whole core, so i could get it really cold..i taped one heatsink before in front of a PII, so i think maybe it will work with 600...

I think King was confused, he knows his stuff :D
I got it though ;)... anyway, I still can't believe my only casualty in all my overclocking was a tired power supply and you have toasted 5 (?) chips. We need to take out life insurance on them and get rich!

I think i may have screwed up my 10$ stick of 256 RK byte memory, when i first got it i tried to see how high i could boot and then how high i could boot with cas2, and now my comp wont even boot cas3 133.....and its pc133....

Yep I was confused, sorry.
Things just weren't jiving. So, did you take the time and measure the thickness of the core after it died? Nobody ever thinks of that and I'm curious as to how thick it really is.

To kingslayer:
no, i did not even think about such a thing. Anyway, i sell the dead chip to a kid next door. He claimed that he could "Fix" it or something like it. Anyway, i think he may just trying his luck a little bit too far.
