I got an XP 1600+ and I was wondering what heatsink is recommneded for maximum OC's.
Thanks,

I've been looking at the reviews, and it looks like the millenium glaciator or glaciator 2 are really good. Dragon Orb 3 seems like a pretty good cooling/$ ratio as well.
I use a Volcano 7, modded by removing heat/fan speed diode and reconnecting the wires, for max rpm all the time. Also, silicone between fan and heatsink to reduce noise/vibration. It keeps my cpu temps at @ 35 C idle and @ 39 C load according to MBM.
These are options in the $25 range, and I think they perform almost as well as HSF's in the $50-$60 range. Though that's just an opinion, not a scientific fact.
How much do you want to spend & how much noise can your ears take?
Hmm my recommendations would be:
Water Cooling - Varies
Swiftech MC-462a, MCX 462 - 40bux - 70 bux
ThermalRight SK6 w/ Delta 38 or Delta 50 - 30 bux
Glaciator II - 20 Bux
The order I made is what rank it is..
Although for a bang of a buck I would really recommend SK6 it'll last too since it is all copper and can be equipped with a killer fan!

Hi explorer,
The best HeatSinks, for me, are the ThermalRight SK6 with Delta38Cfm or better 50Cfm, Millenium Glaciator II, Alpha Pal8045 & the Swiftech MC462a, but for the last two, you have to check the compatibility with your Mobo: sometimes there is not enough room around the socket to fit.
Take a look here (http://www.micforg.co.jp/mb_inf_pal8045e.html) to check the Alpha HS compatibility.
I hope it helps you ;)
