No you didn't....

Anyways, I think what you really need to be asking yourself is: Ranged or melee?
Then you can narrow it down from there. Didn't you have a level 47 something? Or are you re-rolling on a different server/faction?

This site has a listing of everything, it used to be the main WoW site, but http://wow.allakhazam.com/ is a bit better for getting quest help.

Rogues can use a lot of weapons, unfortunately they can only wear leather though. While you're leveling use swords and it's very easy to level solo. They're almost impossible to camp b/c of stealth, you can escape death every 5 minutes, and you can solo grp quests due to sap and evasion.

Mage was fun to solo lvl.

Sheep, Frost Nova, blink.. and now Invis aren't physical weapons but make for fun gaming :P

My character is a 22 warrior, he's pretty fun to play and he can take down a lvl 24 fairly easily. I went defensive with a shield and sword, but the offensive has some pretty cool skills for doing tons of damage.

Warriors get pretty hard in the later game, but I think all the characters are fun, just pick which you like the best.

Well the real thing is you need to narrow your role down.

Healing/Tanking/DPS

Okay, out of those 3 which one appeals to you the most?
Then narrow it down from there. If you chose tank then..roll a warrior.

Now if you want to do melee DPS, either pick a rogue or a warrior, especially if you want to tank perhaps.

If you really can't decide, then roll a druid and pick up 3 different sets of gear for everything.

Truthfully, the rest is up to the playstyle you want. Read the forums, try out friends' characters, do whatever it takes to find something you want to play. Also note that certain classes are MUCH more gear dependent than others.

Ok now should I get archery as well just for a back up? since my elf is an elf?

and that archery is a staple of the elf's?

get archery.
You should have a bow equipped, not so you can use it, but so that you can get the +stats it would provide. For example, look for bows that give strength, or stam. (Just an example, I don't know the real stats you need for a pally).

I play a warlock on boulderfist btw.
