I was wondering if anyone could help me out here. :D I was reading awhile back about a technology to be implemented in cable modems soon. This technology increases the bandwidth in the 1.1 version and they are working on the 2.0 version now that will actually make sharing on a network ,like all cable modems do, drastically change for the better thanks to the throughput. I cannot think of the name of this tech, I promised a friend I would find him a link. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Version 1.1 is yet to be impletented...government (US) holding it up or something of the like.
Thanks in advance

I was searching for cable providers in my area (anything to avoid Time Warner!), and I stumbled on an article talking about a new cable modem technology. I don't remember it's name, but it's supposed to be implemented in the next 5 years. The article stated each computer in the network would have a dedicated 40 Mbps! That's like 25+ times faster than most current cable. The cost is supposed to be in the $50-100/month range, comparable to current cable costs.
Sorry I can't remember the website. I found it while searching using excite.com.

I don't think that's too advanced. I have a 3Com cable modem that has a burst rate of up to 38Mb, and they don't even make cable modems any longer.
Deticated 40Mb/s would be sweet though.

That would be a dedicated cable connection. You could get that today if you could have a dedicated cable or dsl connection that is not shared with anyone else.
