Antivirus not updating

For some reason my computers anti virus and anti spyware programs will not update. I have AVG and I also have clamwin and both programs will not update.
I made sure that the windows firewall was off, but it is still not updating.


Any Ideas?

Will either of the programs update manually? Have you tried reconfiguring the programs to update automatically?

AVG often needs to be updated manually. I usually get at least one message a week from Windows that AVG is out of date.

Manually updating always solves the problem (for me at least).

Weird, mine updates every morning before the ritual 8am scan.

My AVG updates daily also on multiple machines.

As a thought, you may be infected with a web hijacker. It may be that your hosts file is pointing AVG to an incorrect web address.

I would manually download the newest DAT file from AVG and also run Spybot and Adaware. Finally, I would run Hijack this and post the log.

Any or all of these should find the problem if it's an attack of some kind.
