Well I recently got a wicked job making the big bucks, so I am thinking of upgrades. The first will be a 22 inch monitor. The second, a DX10 card.
So far it looks like the 8600GT will be a bit better than what ATI is offering. I know its a bit early but I don't want to wait so I will be looking at Nvidia (sadly).
Being an ATI fan I am weary of going to the big green, even if its just for 1 iteration, so I am gona ask a few questions.
First of all, I have heard reports that the 8600GT isn't performing well compared to its 7600GT. Is this at all true? From what I can see in a few reviews, the 7600GT only beat it a few times, which would make sense. Should I be looking at the 7600GT instead?
Second, DX 10 performance. Is there anyone running DX10 that can compare to a DX9 FPS? Like on the Lost Planet Demo?
Third, how are the Vista drivers performing these days? I tried my 7300GT in Vista 64bit against my ATI X1600 pro and it got whooped HARD. Today i found definitive proof that this is because of drivers.
And finally, does anyone know how much the 2600s will be? I will be holding off a bit to see, but I think i am still going Nvidia (but i will nver abandon old red!).
Thanks for any help you can provide, guys!
