Game recommendations

Right now I'm playing Supreme Commander, Neverwinter Nights 2. But neither really shows what my system can do. Any suggestions for game that will make my system sweat? (OK, SC makes it sweat sometimes, but that's because there's hundreds of units on the screen.)

I loved Homeworld (Played that game into the ground on my p4) Diablo, not really into the online gaming scene. I need to be able to stop and start a lot when I game... I'm a busy guy.

Lookin' for a game that will make it obvious why I spent all this time and money on this rig. Visually stunning.

whoa whoa whoa...your telling me NWN2 is not taxing? O.o Completely maxed out I can still sometimes drop to 30fps...

OK, OK, You got me Thideras. I just got the game yesterday, and I'm not benching the FPS, just got my feet wet in the village so far.

Oblivion along with the expansions is alot of gaming in itself, but stalker is another good one.

NWN2 taxes my system to death. That game is a slopply put togeather engine which sucks. Reminds me I need to play it sometime lol. Never really got far in it because it really sucked on my X1900XT, and I tried it a little bit with my 2900XT and it improved FPS but still its a kick in the pants.

I throw the obligatory Oblivion recommendation in there. With the visuals maxed, the game is beautiful. And it'll tax those xfire cards a bit too. I'm guessing that 22" LCD has a 1680x1050 res. You should be able to get pretty close to maxing the settings at that resolution.

A little hard for me to say for sure because I'm comparing a 3Ghz opty 165 system with SLI 7900GTX's (Oced to their max stock air speeds)

I couldn't play at 1920x1200 with visuals turned up all the way...at 1680x1050 I could play with everything maxed except for grass, which I turned off completely. With it on, FPS would still often drop below 30.

It is possible this was due to the CPU though, perhaps the C2D would fare better. :shrug:


Other games I can think of that look pretty and have good play are:

Splinter Cell Double Agent
Stalker looks pretty decent and has awesome gameplay
Call of Juarez is supposed to have nice graphics

what's weird is FEAR at max settings is the most taxing game I have in busy multiplayer games. My rig lays a smack down on Oblivion though. :P I may lag once or twice, but in FEAR I drop down to like 40~ FPS in heavy firefights with lots of debris and physics calcs.

Also, my monitor can't do 1680x1050 so at that res I bet I'd be wrong :)

Add a check to Oblivion. For the week or so that I played it on my old system (Sys2) I spent half the time tweaking.

..and STALKER with settings cranked up.
