I just put together a soyo dragon+/athlonxp system. When the bios screen finishes and windows should begin loading, I instead get a blue screen saying "a problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer... remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hdd to make sure it is properly configured and terminated..."

It also says "STOP: 0x0000007B"

Any ideas of what the problem could be?

Did you install a fresh copy of the OS after you put it together or did you just hook the hard drive up from the latter system and expect it to work?

Have you ever installed or booted this computer before. I know my friend just had a problem with Windows XP not installing because his Video card was not complient with the install, but supported under windows. He got this straight from the tech staff at Microsoft. You might want to look into it. It was a Geforce2 with 64Mb of Ram.

Hmm.. See if your bios is configued for maximum performance and obviously the right settings.

Try refdisking, reformating than reinstalling Windows..

BTW run it at default speeds when installing.
