Sorry Man, the pencil trick won't work on XP's do to the change of the PGA from cerramic to organic(plasic)................also the bridges are cut with a laser and has left slots in between the bridge pins..........so ya would have to very carefully fill the slots and then use something like a conductive trace pen or the old rear window defroster repair kit to connect the bridges

rats! o well... i tried changing the FSB in my bios and got it up to 150/300 but then windows wouldn't boot. i also tried it at 135 and it still wouldn't boot... is that just a win xp problem?

what type of DDR memory ....................pc1600 or 2100 or better................if ya got only pc1600, ya is lucky it even get's that far since pc1600 is only rated for 100fsb.................pc2100 is rated at 133..................I have never worked with the epox MoBo so I don't know if that could be any problem ......................another thing set yer cpu voltage to 1.85 volts with is the max for a unmodded MoBo and amybe ya with be able to hit some hight FSB. Alsowhat type HS/F ya got ...........if ya got some type of genaric hs/f ya might want to go with a better type ...........

i got alpha PAL8045 with sunnon fan. i'll try the volt. i got the fsb up to 140 and in 3dmark it says 1.57ghz, but in the system info in xp it says 1.61... what do i believe? when it posted it said something in the 1600's. my normal temp is 42, is that any good? oh and it's crucial 2100 256mb.

ummm... i put the voltage all teh way up and my temp right now is 53!! seems pretty high to me.... i'm taking the case off to see what that does... it went down but in the middle of the 3dmark test my alarm went off cuz it hit 60c!! what is the max temp i should set for the alarm? is there a cahnce the temp senseor if off by a couple degrees?

hmmm just by chance did ya happened to put any heatsink compound on the CPU before mount the alpha ? just askin...............by the way 53c is Way to hot ..............either the temp senders are off or the heatsink fan is not makeing a good connection to the cpu..............I know that putting on the pal 8045 is a little trickie................and there's chance that ya can crack yer cpu but ya need to make good cotact between the HS and the CPU
