win2k and login..............

how can i get rid of the user profiles and just leave me not wanting to log in, so that win will boot straight to the desktop and not stop at login and password ?

this should work. if it doesn't i don't know.

go to your control panel, then double click on "users and passwords". at the top of the "users" tab there should be a box checked that says "users must enter a username and password to use this computer". uncheck that box and you should be set.
