Odd sounds from speakers

This odd thing concerns the Shuttle rig in the sig and my Klipsch 2.1s. In the limited time I acutally have the speakers hooked up to the file server (the P3) I have not heard this.

I first started hearing a couple of 3 tone sounds in Ubuntu that had no apparant source. One ascends in pitch and is is high in frequency overall, and the other one descends in pitch and is lower in frequency. I disabled all of Ubuntu's system sounds but it still occured. And now these tones are heard in Windows XP.

I tried a few google queries but nothing came up.

Has anyone heard of anything like this?

Try another computer, it may be the sound card. Had one do a similar thing at someone else's pc...
