I was just wondering if someone knows the "average" idle/load temperatures of the 640MB card.
Clocked at 500/815, mines running pretty hot around 60 C idle; my room temperature is pretty stuffy and humid as it might be affecting my intake of cool air running through the system? Did I clock to high without better cooling, should turn on the AC now... but if someone can still answer the initial question, thanks.
Mine idles in the mid to low forties, and never gets into the sixties.
Have you tried turning up the fan on it?
Also what load temps are you getting?

I'm not sure, haven't tried anything too graphic extensive to see where it goes. I'm not sure where to turn up the fan speed? Don't think the Forceware control panel has an option to do so(?) cause it's grayed out for me , or I'm just a stupid newbie not knowing how to enable it :bang head.

Riva tuner can alter fan speeds. 60 is a bit too warm for a gts. My gtx idles at about 52c (with 100% fan) and my ambient temps are not great.
Rivatuner is what I use also.
Turn the AC on also.

I was just about to check it out. And this is what it looks like on my control panel, grayed out.

Thats what I get as well. Perhaps an unimplemented feature? It is definitely available using rivatuner along with a host of other nifty features.

Well, here's an update with the RivaTuner monitoring my hardware.

It's cooled down slightly and I believe my fan is only running at 60%?

i run my fan @ 60% all the time
i idle at about 52-54*C and load at 65-68*C with my 8800gts 640

Well, after turning on the AC it runs about the same as nd4spdbh2's temperatures and same fan speed. Still haven't seen load times yet, should I just play some graphic whoring game and check during the session?

Who the hell said anything about NVIDIA control panel?
Use Rivatuner.
I have my fan set to 75% and I get 51c idle (49c if I have my air conditioner going.)

Hm... RivaTuner's monitor can't detect me clocking my core at 585, it reads it default at 513. I've rebooted several times to see if it would fix it but no success.
Update: Actually found out that whenever I TURN ON the hardware monitor it reads the core as 513 default. Is this a bug?
Mine is set at 612Mhz Core / 1404Mhz Shader / 918Mhz Memory, and it idles between 53ºC to 60ºC depending on the ambient temperatures. I would say that it idles at 55ºC usually. And the load temps, again depending the ambient temps are between 60ºC to 70ºC. Remember those temps are with OC'ed frequencies. At stock frequencies it idles between 48ºC to 54ºC, and loads to around 60ºC, sometimes a little lower.

With the fan at 80% and a pretty warm house, I get idle in the high 50s, and load in the high 70s.
