Ok well i kno its sorta not right to do this but i posted this in the cooling section and got to thinking it should be in the intel cpu section... so here

Well here is the story, Earlier today i was having massive probs with counter strike / steam / internet explorer AND bf2... all were crashing and what not. So i thought it might be system instability due to the fact i run my E6600 @ 3.0ghz @ 1.225v (stock is 1.325) so i started up some orthos blend and let it run for about 30 min, and no probs, so whilist i was at it i thought i would see HOW much of a temp difference at load my 10% (.1v) undervolt would make.

Now during temp monitoring sessions ambient room temp flucuated between 75.1 and 76.5*F. I recorded temps for both voltage states (1.225v and 1.325v) at my high and low fan settings (12 and 6v respectivly) and clock speed stayed the same 3.0ghz, and inbetween recordings i allowed time for temps to settle into place so to say

On to some screenies

1.225vcore all fans @ 12v
(4 hrs of orthos to make sure there were no stability probs with this low voltage and oc)

1.225vcore all fans @ 6v

1.325vcore (stock VID) fans @ 12v

1.325vcore (stock VID) fans @ 6v

Soo lets get the results in to a lil easier place to see

Difference between temps with fans on HIGH =

7*C on core 0 and 6*C on core 1

Difference between temps with fans on low =

6*C on core 0 and 7*C on core 1

Thats not a bad temp drop! I just thought id share my findings with everyone

BTW this is with my main rig in sig.

that is a huge drop in temps! My e6600 is due to arrive soon (fingers crossed for tomorrow!). I'll try undervolt mine if i can now for sure.

Out of interest, is it still stable?

ya its perfectly stable at 3.0ghz @ 1.225v... my windows install is MESSED up the yinyang... im wondering how much lower the voltage could go at this clock... but i cant go any lower than 1.225v on my P5W
