Ela nickthegreek82, welcome to the Forum,
You need of MotherBoardMonitor that you can found here (http://mbm.livewiredev.com/) to check the Cpu temps which never must go above 40-45 degree C @full load (100% load), but less is better. Some other programs to check the stability, like Prime95, Stability Test, 3DMark2001 and Folding@home or Seti@home. At this point you have to check the Mobo manual on how to set the Fsb (system bus), generally through Bios or jumpers, but first of all I suggest you to take a look to the beginners guide on the home page, it's for sure the best way to start to discover the great world of the OC thing ;)
P.S. what kind of Mobo (brand/model) are you using now?

You're welcome nick,
Excuse me, but are you using a Mobo Intel with Intel chipset 440Bx or another kind of Mobo with this chipset?
I ask you coz Intel Mobo arent's good for the OC thing, they doesn't like at all this kind of strange things about the system :D
