wireless compatability?

Hi all, i have an acer travelmate 2492wlmi
with 802.11b/g wireless lan

problem is i connect to every wireless router exept the work one, does anybody know of any incompatability issues that between this and HP Procure wireless access point 420!
please help as it is realy bugging me now, im not the only one with laptop that doesnt work with it, yet all of the standalone comps work in the place?
p.s. im sitting half a meter underneath the ariel???

You do have the nat key right?
You sure they dont have mac address protection.
Whay about DHCP? Do they have it enabled or do you need to specify
and IP, gateway and DNS server?

yes i think so, as our tek guy at work, (in a school) has checked and his laptop is the same, he had to go and buy a usb wireless dongel to get his to work,
I find it strange as we have 2 dozen or so desktop pc's working fine and 6 tablet pc's that connect, and yet we both are having probs.
is it just a compatibility thing? i wonder if you or anyone else has heard of anything like it before.

or mabe there is a patch or something i could use. Also i would plag in a network cable only there is not a spare hole on the router even though it is right above me.
