I just received an HIS x1950 pro video card, but the card is missing the X bracket on the back of the card that most reviews show.

Is this a new type of card or is mine actually defective? My serial number starts with H 07011xxxx . Do you have a new card that doesn't have the metal X bracket on the back?

Hey,

it seems you forgot about smth... You bought a AGP HIS x1950 pro. and the screenshot just above its a pci-x card. If u dont have the X plate behind its cause they cant put it on AGP card. The "new chip" is the chip that make possible to run an PCI-X GPU on an AGP Slot.. I didnt saw that chip before i bought my card (agp) when i tried to put my mcw60 *watercool* i was very pis** off. I changed from 7900GS to x1950pro cause my cooler wont fit on nvidia card (cause of the same chip that provide gpu pci-x to be used in agp slot). I found a way to put my mcw60 on my card.. i just didnt use the back plate... since my cooler is ligther than the stock cooler.... my card was SO binded that it was unbelievable that they ship a card stock like that. lol so the X back plate, in a way, is useless.. so dont think about it anymore... you have a AGP card.. and peeps who do reviews now are SO lazy that they dont even look at which card they post as "pic of the card reviewed..." seriously i never had so much trouble to see review about 7950GT and x1950pro.. it seems review website arent what they used to be anymore.....

Also, i hope you have at least 2Go of ram... this card need at least 2Go.... i got only 1Go and i cant use the power of this beast.. i will upgrade to 2Go this week...only to use my card at it full power...hehe

Now that's curious because I paid for a PCIe card and the box says PCIe and the instructions are for a PCIe. But you are right because it won't fit on my mobo! :bang head

First of all. Pci-x is NOT pci-e. They are differnt things.

secound. Who ever said ram held a videocard back?!?!?! One gig is fine. Your cpu is the thing holding it back. It would be a differnt story if you had 512mb vs. 1 gig. But seriously you don't NEED two gig.

You'd fine a WAY larger performance boost with a new C2D and 1gig than that old POS w/ 2 gigs.

Orion, i surely would be sending that card back asap if you paid for a pci-e card....and yea Pawn is right, 1 gig with a C2D would be a lot better as far as a upgrade than 2gigs with a POS cpu

I dont know what you talking about guys.. but i TESTED it and i got now 2Go ram.. and i can play game at full graphics... in stalkers. with 1Go i was only able to run it a medium .... so... 2Go ram does change smth....

im sry if i mistaken pci-x and pcie... my apologize..
