Well, I just got a new Intel PIII 1Ghz chip. I won't go into specifics here, but needless to say I was appalled at the stock cooling Intel now uses. I had no intention of actually using it, I decided to use my PEP66 w/Pelt on it instead long before this was in my fingers. But, for grins, I looked at the stock HS. What did I find??? NO THERMAL PASTE!!! NOT A DROP, SMUDGE, OR WHATEVER ELSE!!!! Instead, there's this rubber thingy that isn't even firmly attached to the HS... just on the sides.... hangs down when the HS is held in the air. Pitiful. I thought Intel was better than that. But I guess they like replacing fried chips. This is what gives stock cooling a bad name.

BTW: I feel I should add this is a "hybrid" chip of sorts, it has the heat spreader on it with the FCPGA2 pin array but it works on my Abit mobo... strange. However, it operates at 1.75 default Vcore and does not appear to be an actual Tualatin processor... though it is cDo... :D
