Hi all, this is my first post and it is one asking for help.I have installed on my Asus 8an sli 3gbs of Corsair XMS CMX3200 c2 pro. The bios recognizes all but says only 2.5 gbs are available. The modules are Matched pairs so there should not be a problem there.Just in case, as i was advised by a user from the Asus forum to run a check with cpu z and write down what i saw under the spd tab in the program, which i did, it stated cas3, Ras -Cas 3, Ras precharge 3, Tras8.
Now i am a noob at all this so i did what i was told and changed the settings in the bios but it remained the same on boot, 2.5 gbs. I have since then taken out the modules and installed them in my girlfriends pc a mobo ECS 939 and low and behold they are recognized without as much as a tweak! I think that maybe i have a ram slot on the motherboard that doesn't work properly as i have chopped and changed the modules and with just two installed they are recognized no probs, it's when i install all 4 that they dont register properly.Any ideas anyone? Help would be much appreciated here. Oh i forgot i am running win xp 64bit 2003 version. Incidentally i installed vista a little while back and it actually recognized my full 3gb's until i reset the flipping machine then it went back to normal 2.5gbs :-(

Found out what my problem is.....It's my sli setup. If i use just one graphics card the bios has no trouble finding my 3gigs of ram, however,if i use the setup in sli it just recognizes 2.5 gigs!! At least now i know what the problem is. Does anyone have any info they could share with me on this, personally i think the motherboard is at fault with no known fix i expect. :-(

Well...what kind of graphics cards to you have (can you find a link on Newegg?)? It sounds like the cards are using system memory.

This is a popular problem. Try looking for a memory remap feature in your bios

Hi i found the remapping setting in the bios they were set to enabled, so i disabled it and the bios still only recognizes 2.5gbs i think this should be set to enabled as it is to recognize memmory 4gbs and over i think. Thanks all the same.
