can i put a 80mm fan on my Sk6 cause im getting sick of my ys-tech fan at 49db loud and i just ordered some quiter 92mm fans to replace my 80mm fans there not that loud but im wanna cut down on the noise so could i use a 80mm fan?? do i have to buy the adapter or is that what those longer pieces of metal are for? if they are i never could figure out how to get my 80mm fan on it..

Hi demon-eater,
you can also consider to use the fan on your SK6 @7v: good airflow at tolerable noise levels :) and use the 92mm fans, just ordered, to cool the case.
I suggest for you to use a duct+80mm fan. Cooler air from the outside & it'll be less of an ear strain than the 60mm that you have now. Do you know what a velocity stack is? It'll help keep the flow consistent with practically no degradation of CFM & pressure + with a more cohesive air column you will get better results than a adaptor or standard ducts.

well i think im gonna go with putting a 80mm on that funny way and hope it keeps it cool enough.. my 80mm fans are 36db and push 43cfm and the fan i have right now is the ys-tech 7000rpm which spins at 8125rpm so its louder than the usual 48db and stock pushes 40cfm so im hoping that the 80mm fits okay... ill have to try it monday when my 92mm fans come cause im gonna take everything out of my case. so i can make my 80mm intake/exhaust wholes big enough to accomodate the 92mm and ill try mounting my 80mm on and use my backup chip (800mhz duron) just in case the 80mm falls off or something bad happens that way i don't fry my 1.2ghz AXIA @1.4ghz but would only fry a $35 Duron! thanks for all the input

It would work but I have never fried a chip (even though it hit 150C!!!) but I did fry the board.
I would just have the case open and if the fan falls off then shut down, or use MBM5 to turn the PC off at a certain temp.
ALso newer boards have that feature built into Bios under Health.
