What is faster ?

Ok right now im making pretty good PPD on the winsmp client . On avg I get 2100-2400 PPD on the win smp client . Will I make more with a Vmware/linux smp client ?

A Native Linux smp should yield a bit more.

I'm not sure if VMware/SMP would yeild any over windoz smp or not.
-maybe a little.

It depends on the mix of wu's you get ... if a lot of 2604/05 then linux will do better, if lots of 2608/09 win smp will do better.

If you get a 50/50 mix of them, linux is a bit better.

This ignores the other wu's that only run on win smp like 2610, 2651, 2652.

It is also harder to predict with quads since they will get all the above wu's as well as the others that are only assigned to quads.
for now my quads are all linux.

I am sticking with linux on most of my DC rigs for now but if the mix changes much i have dual boot on them so i can switch to win smp easily.

with the current WU mix, especially w/ dual core, I would say VMware/Linux will produce more in the long run. especially there's quite a bit of 2604/2605 lately.
