I've got an 800x600 (native) projector (goes beyond 1280x1024, but not to1920x something). A friend told me that I'm screwed when it comes to progressive scan because I only have 600 vertical lines, and PS needs 720. Is this true? Also, will HD stuff come out as good as it should? With a PC, you can go way past 800, the picture just gets less clear the further you go up.

To have true high definition you must have at least 1280x720 native resolution (hence the 720P). Your current projector is downscaling all higher resolutions to 800x600 so it doesn't qualify. It may be able to display a low-resolution progressive scan picture (like a dvd movie's native rez) but you won't get more resolution than what's built into your projector (native rez).

You can absolutely have progressive scan at resolutions lower than 1280x720P, it just won't be high definition. Perhaps your friend is confusing two entirely different terms (progressive scan and high definition that is)?
