*Decided to post this since I've been hearing bad things about Newegg's chat service lately, and figured I'd show them in a more positive light*

So UPS lost my package, but under the tracking number they claimed it was delivered.

Talked to a Newegg rep (Eveline), and I re-placed the same order and they're hooking it up with free overnight shipping and refunding me for the lost package.

I just think that's great, I hate dealing with shipping companies as most of you know you can't really get anything resolved with them, and Newegg is making things right even though it's not their fault UPS decided to pretend they delivered my package.

But you need to provide more details than that. It is kind of like someone jumping in the AMD cpu section and just posting "AMD SUCKS!!".

If you have details, there are alot of people that are willing to listen

My apologies. :)

Thanks.

Well first off, they were supposed to deliver my package tuesday. And now I have to wait till monday because of their errors. Yeah, not too good. Second, when I got my Antec Nine Hundred a little while ago, the box was so damaged I thought the case was gonna be in shreds. Luckily it was fine.

FedEx is much better, plus they deliver on saturdays! :)

I once had to RMA a motherboard back to Newegg, talked to the chat guy and he refunded me what it cost me to ship it to them and they payed overnight for the RMAed board.

UPS Does suck, i ordered a Westinghouse 37" 37W3 LCD, and the day it was supposed to be delivered I tracked it and it had been destroyed and they were returning it to sender. I HATE UPS.

Their chat service rules. The wait time seems to have increased by quite a bit lately, but their reps are still awesome and very helpful. I recently had an RMA for a soundcard processed in like 2 minutes. They even e-mailed me a shipping label (UPS) so I didn't have to pay to ship back to them. Very awesome.

On another note, I haven't found UPS to be particularly bad, although they are the only courier so far who has lost one of my packages. Luckily it only lost me time, however, since they agreed to re-ship what I had ordered at no charge. My favorite is still USPS, but that is for another thread.

Yes the chat service is very good, my only problem is I don't have much of a window since I work kind of odd hours on the East coast. They've done some things for me as exceptions which are not part of Newegg policy or even against standard policy, it never hurts to ask ;)

UPS lost one of my packages recently. Newegg was great about it and said they will give me a full refund. I don't know whats up with UPS lately. I think all the normal drivers are on vacation or something so we get alot of noob drivers losing packages this time of year.

Unfortunately, it's gotten to the point where little more be said about UPS than that they do suck.

I second the motion that UPS sucks. I'm now sitting here in the second week of a dispute because UPS lost my package an EVGA 8800 Ultra and EVGA 680i.

Reading all the threads about poor shipping services makes me feel bad for all the working stiffs trying to do a good job and have horrible bosses that expect more and more. For the most part. UPS is Newegg's weak link.

Yeah I agree. Newegg does such a great job it's a shame seeing their name get smudged because of the shipping companies. I remember the good ol days when newegg had free Fedex shipping.

I can see why they had to get UPS involved though. Shipping rates have got too the point where its border line retarded. Lately every time I've taken a package in to be shipped I leave shaking my head at how completely ridiculous the large some of money I just paid to ship a silly little box a few states away. Last month I shipped a package too a guy in Finland for the low price of $120 USPS. For the same package UPS quoted me $315 and Fedex was $350.

My guess is that once Fedex started hiking their prices on Newegg, newegg had to get UPS involved to start some pricing wars. Can't say I blame them. At least newegg lets me chose to ship Fedex if I want to pay the difference. That's more then most companies will do.

Well I've actually had nothing but good service with my local UPS. (/runs for cover). Sorry guys I can't agree with ya'll.

My new rig's 4 shipments: 2 from CA, 1 from TN and 1 from NJ all showed up within the 3 business days. My Antec 900 case box seemed roughed up a little bit too, but I can't see that being solely a UPS issue - could have been newegg's warehouse too, who knows. The innards were a.o.k.

The only thing that makes me go "hmm" is the fact that UPS didn't require me to sign for any of the packages. If I weren't the honest citizen that I am now, I could have easily called up Newegg and said the 8800 never came, or the 4gb's of Crucial Ballistix.... I guess UPS only requires a sig if the package value is over a certain amount.

At least Fedex requires you to sign (least all the shipments I've ever rec'd from 'em), and deliveries on Saturday. So I will give them that.

I will give them that. However, UPS has a union, Fedex does not. But that's a whole 'nother ball of wax.

I've found shipper performance related to location, i.e. UPS or FedEx either may be better depending on where you are. In NM, the winner is FedEx hands down. Given a choice, I'll always ship FedEx to my location.

Newegg's chat reps have always helped me resolve issues. If it is a complex issue then I call, trying to type out many details does nothing but confuse us all.

That can't be it. When I ordered my current system, I had to sign for my P180 ($120), but not for my $300 processor or video card. It may be based on weight or something. Who knows?

That being said, I've never really had a problem with UPS, but I prefer Fedex because they deliver on Saturdays.

maybe in your neck-of-the-woods ... but ive had fedex pull some strange things where i live ... nad im in NM too

i think its more of a case of the driver than anything ... some drivers are just more careless than others <shrug> you'll find that anywhere you go in any industry ... the good, the bad and the ugly

Come to think of it, the OP says UPS lost his package but marked it as delivered, but what if they really did deliver it and his neighbor took it?

As Morvak said, I have nothing wrong with UPS. It might be b/c I get the package next day since I’m somewhat close to their NJ warehouse. I think the problem is when it travels long distances...

If you call ups you can fill out a paper so that the driver always has to get your signature. I did that after a laptop got left out all day. And plus if you miss the UPS man you can just go to the sorting center to pick it up later in the day. The sorting center is 5 minutes away for me so it's nice.

I've personally never had an issue with either company, and I use both on a consistent basis for work.

However, I usually prefer USPS. Even sending things first class, it rarely takes longer than Ground services from UPS or FedEX, and Priority Mail gets places in one or two days tops most times I use it.

And Newegg reps have always been great, everytime I've had either a simple problem or a major issue, it's been resolved in <15 minutes.

Most likely FedEx did not increase the rates. UPS probably came to them with a better offer. Companies that do high volume get the best rates with the carriers. NewEgg charged me about $30 to ship a mobo via standard overnight. The company I work for ships no where the volume that NewEgg does (but we get pretty good rates) and it cost me about $17 to ship it back to them, overnight, on an RMA. Also Newegg sent the package from Memphis, TN to AL. I sent the RMA from AL to Whitter, CA. If I had to guess it most likely cost newegg about $14 to $16 to send the mobo to me in the first place.

Shipping is just another profit center for most online companies.

**Edit**But I do not really care about a few dollars. I will almost always pick FedEx over UPS if I can.

actually if you can call them right away, lets say u missed the drop by 30 mins, and still before around 4pm, you can call and pick it up that same day ! :santa:

hmm, I've use both FedEx and UPS. While they were both great to me, no missing packages, no broken parts, i still prefer FedEx. In the past, FedEx would usually get me my parts a day early. The only time they didn't do that was during Christmas, but can't blame them for being on time. :) I've use DHL once...a long time ago. And geez were they slow. But DHL is more widely used for international shipments outside of the US as I currently see it.

We ship a lot of international as well and FedEx reigns supreme there as well. At least until we get into palletized shipments. Then it is Eagle Global Logistics and Expeditors. With international it really depends on where you are shipping, what you are shipping, what is worth ($$), how much (lbs) it is and the TOD (terms of delivery). Some carriers (fedex & DHL included) will not handle shipments with certain customs terms (such as DDP) so we have to resort to other carriers.

Back on topic (sort of) I have found that FedEx will deliver Ground shipments a day or so early as well. It seems if UPS gets my package to the local terminal a couple of days early they will hold it until the scheduled delivery date. I have actually confirmed this with a couple of the UPS drivers that pick up and deliver at work (we see at least 3 UPS and 4 FedEx drivers a day). The fedex guys told me that they deliver as soon as possible because they would rather do the work today since they do not know what tomorrow will be like.

wow so many people are saying so much... I won't bother reading all that but what I have to say is that newegg has been nothing but awesome to me and I always buy with them even if I can find it way cheaper elsewhere cause I know they won't try to screw me.

I just bought a product that was $10 more expensive on newegg from newegg just because they rock.

A few years back in my city. A guy that delivers packages for UPS like the dudes in the Bus or Van things w/e you wanna call em, well he took packages and would take them to his house and keep them. The police investigated and found like tens of thousands of items in his house. I also seem to always get late packages or damaged ones from them.

I think I might have to chat with them, I called yesterday since the billing address was actually a P.O. box. They e-mailed me a auto-response to change it, so I did and for 2 days it's been stuck on step 1. I called yesterday and he said they were working to verify it.

However, I used monoprice.com and ordered a HDMI cable 2 days ago with the "improper" billing address and I received it yesterday...

I'll chat first, then maybe call them to get this worked out, I want to buy some other things today from them, but not if they get held up this long...

That chat service is good. But newegg customer service people are sometimes very irregular. Some of them do what they are suppose to and push for whats right. Others dont seem to take the time to help you at all. My suggestion with NewEgg is if you dont like the answer you get, call back later that day.
