where did you find an ultra for that price:eek:
its a tough decision, personally i would go with the 7500 because of the fuzzy 2D with the Ultra, and also i didnt think they made Ultras with dual monitor out, i dont think thats an Ultra there, maybe just a confusing name....post me link.....

I just went from a Leadtek GF2 Ultra to a 8500, check out Cisco's posts about his 7500

I haven't been the biggest ATI fan in the past but I still would get the 7500 over the Ultra. People have been saying pretty decent things about the 7500. Have you considered buying a ODM(oem) 8500 and flashing the bios to make it a retail 8500

I have a ODM 8500 and I havent flashed the bios yet and I am at 300/300 and it did that even before I added my modded heatsink with stock cooling. You can pick up a Oem/ODM 8500 for roughly $169

Price performance wise thats the best deal out there at this time IMHO

I bought mine from a guy that bought several from Royal pc thinking they were retail models, It clearly says OEM at Royals site, but Royal's description is a little in the grey area as they Show the 'Made By ATI' Box and they offer the 3 year warranty in description, to the best of my knowledge only the retail units had 3 year warranties, so this seller just decided to offer them at a loss rather than fight Royal as he mentioned that they wanted to knock a 20% restocking charge. I guess selling them at 169 was the better option for this guy

If you PM me I can get you in contact with the seller as he has 3 left, Royal sells them for $186 and this guy is losing money on the deal

BUT the key here is that I bought a oem that did 300/300 right out of the box, and a friend of mine bought one as well but he is a wuss and refused to run it over 275/275 but neither of us has flashed the bios.

All I know is Royal pc has some OEM's that are better than average OEM's

NewbiePerson,

If your refering to the ASUS V7700 , The things to consider with that auction is that 1 out of every 10 auctions that seller has results in a negative feedback and the seller has changed ID's in the last 30 days.

Personally I would pass on that one but a Ultra for 100 is a good price.

I suggest that you cruise on over here to the Overclockers.com classified section (http://overclockers.cssftware.com/ads/cacgi.exe/?action=Show)

There are a few sellers there like Skip and Mr.B and other well known forum users that periodicly have great deals on video cards and other stuff.

Okay thanks
Did you look at the auction though?
It looks hard to resist...
He has a pic of it
If I do see another Ultra though for the same price as a 7500 should I get the Ultra?
According to that list that that one guy has the Ultra as being better than the 7500, but the 7500 is getting higher on 3dmark2001.
So does the Ultra beat the 7500 on OpenGL and the 7500 beat the Ultra on Direct X?

Also, for the Radeon 7500
does the oem with just the tv out perform the same as dual display?Or better?(probably a dumb question but anyways)

The 7500 will equal or slightly beat the Ultra in Open GL. It scores higher in 3D Mark2001 also. It is very overclockable most will do 330/540 with stock cooling, that is fast.

It supports a few features of DX8 not all of them. There was a post put up a few days ago asking Ultra owners for their 3DMark2K1 scores. The systems were very similar in cpu and ram to mine and my overclocked 7500 had the second highest score out of about 12 posts, only being beat by 60 points by a overclocked Ultra.

IMHO I would buy the newer technology, that being the 7500 for about $105 US. That is flat out a deal.
