Heres the deal I have... I Have an Inspiron E1705 previously housing a "go 7900 GS" card, ran fine no problems, good performance. Well I wanted to upgrade to "go 7950 GTX" for more of an edge on some of the new games coming out and whatnot. So I bought one and put it in. And now the 7950 isnt exactly performing like it should, the 7900 GS has better performance.
The 7950 cards were originally shipped with the XPS M1710, to my knowledge these are the only ones that had these cards. BUT before I purchased the card I was informed that the M1710 and E1705 and a few other inspiron's have the same motherboard. So I dont know if the motherboard is an issue with this or if its simply crappy drivers from dell. I have heard that the Forceware Driver version 86.54 works well for this card.
So I guess it boils down to 3 questions:
Does anyone know of some good drivers for this situation/good working drivers with the same setup?
Does anyone know what the problem might be if its not the driver and what I could do to fix it?
And does anyone know a trusted site to download Forceware 86.54? I cannot find one.
