Two questions about HD monitors

Well, i was wondering if my acer al2216w was a decent monitor, and if sense its 1680x1050, does it support a full 1080p?

Second question is when my mom gets here tax refunds, I will probably buying a new monitor or tv.
Would a 30inch PC lcd at 2560xsomething (lol) be a better choice then a pssible 37inch lcd at 1920x1080? Using for my computers, and using often that is.
I do some editting of maps in hammer for CS:S, and have been messing around in blender lately. I have an 8800gtx so these res's shoudnt be too much of a problem.

1) No it doesn't fully support it, but im sure it will display it at 1680x1050 just fine, and look very nice as well =)
2) i would go for 2x24 inchers over the 30 incher, but thats just me. i looked at the 30 inch apple and the colors on it were horiable. it made no comparison to my CRT monitor. Though having a 30 inch monitor owns too =P.

But alright, well i just mean playing 1080p content since its close to a full 1080 wide.

And one 30 inch is good for me, gotta have space and i wil be playing CS on this thing

1080 is indicative of the number of pixels in the HEIGHT not width
no, 1680 x 1050 wont display true 1080 but it looks damn good

Ah alright I see.
Because...lol oops im dumb.I looked at iot backwards. 1920x1080.
Its WIDE screen. Doh, just wasn thinking.

My monitor looks good, but if i pay attention i can stil see the little pixels and dots. =./

sitting to close maybe :P i sit about 2 1/2- 3 ft from my 22" and see nothing :) nothing... i shouldnt se e anyway
