Ok, so its not up as I speak, but the fact that they added the mod & patch download section says that its being upload to file planet now. It will be released on File Planet first for 3 hours then all other mirrors will be released.

I can't currently acess the forums to see if there is any new information. Last time I refreshed the page there was over 2000 users browsing!

This is going to be big!

edit: ITs out!!!

edit edit:
Wow, I must have been lucky. I got in line with only an 11 minute wait. Apparently someone just said there is already a 50 minute wait time.

^^ torrent file. I forgot to post that up. I created the torrent as soon as I downloaded the game. There are curerntly 166 seeders and 333 peers. Some nice bandwidth via the torrent.

This game rocks!! I'd say it beats the realism of America's Army. It will take a lot of getting use to, but I think this might just be the next CS mod. (meaning how CD took off from the original HL, this will be the new mod that takes off from HL2).

I work nights and missed the release. But downloading now, I got an 8 minute wait. Been waiting for this for a while, hope it plays as good as it looks. I have to leave for work again in an hour, I might get to play for a few minutes.:attn:

If this mod is similar to CS:S, dont expect teamwork from the majority of the players lol

this game has a lot of potential but needs a lot of work.

i hate that no one knows where they are supposed to go. i guess it will come with time, people will learn the maps better.

i hate that you get stuck as a certain class. if you come into a server, expect to be stuck with the shotgun/rpg for a while, until someone quits that is using the gun you want. speaking of the rpg, it is useless. you walk slow, you aim slow, when you reload you are completely immobile. there are bandages, but i never know when i am wounded. i shoot a lot of teammates, because i can't tell anyone apart from far away. i can never figure out how my side wins rounds, they just end all of a sudden.

i love the chaotic nature of the game. i (kinda) like that you don't know who you are killing/who killed you, it just shows you kills at the end. i'll keep playing this one, hope to see lots more servers up.

^sounds like a whole lot of frustration to me. Why can't you change your class? That sounds stupid.

there are only a certain number of slots available, so when they are used up, they are used up. in a full server with 32 people, it can take forever for someone to give up a certain slot. also, at the end of the round, it doesn't shuffle the positions up, everyone keeps their slot.

i understand that they are trying to create balance, and they want all the guns to be used. but if realism is what they are going for, they should let the whole insurgent side carry AK's if they want to, its not like there is any shortage of them over in Iraq. it took me an hour last night just to try the AK. never got a chance to try a sniper rifle, no one would give up the slot. OH, and if I find a good gun laying around somewhere, i can drop my old one, but no matter what i've tried, i can't pick up a new gun. its supposed to be the use key, but i can't get it to work.

if i were you, i'd still download it. it IS fun. i'll keep playing it, but only casually until some things are fixed.

Judging by feedback from the official forums...including the beta testers looks like rushed crap right off the bat. Glad I wasn't waiting in line for this.

Think I'll give it more time.

I tried this out today and its a steaming pile. The maps seem to be complex yet I cant find any way to actually view the map area. It's nearly impossible to see other players unless you're on top of them. Everybody and their brother wants to be the Americans so every server I joined it was 15 vs 5.

I dont know. Maybe if I create my own server and check out every map at length to get an idea of the playable area and wait for a few patches to help out with visibility and respawn vulnerability issues this will be ok. I found out about this mod when this thread was posted and I have to say...4 years? It feels like it was thrown together over the weekend.

I dont want to offend any die hard INS fans but this game just isnt any fun for me. I'm willing to give it a fair shake though and I'll keep at it for a few months just like every other game.

This mod is only fun when I actually find a server with people actually cooperating with each other with voice chat and Team_say:

but then again 90% of the servers ive been in has no co-op what so ever, all rushers and yes, it's a slauterfest when people just run out into the streets lol

Played it some, and it's probably the most realistic game I've played as far as weapon sounds and map layout.

Shelnutt2

This game rocks, for its realism. There are more bugs than not, but so far it hasn't effect game play that much of me. There is a big problem with Tkers and campers, but you have to know that people have to learn this game. BF2 players are the cloest to this game and even then BF2 is not really close to this game. Give this mod a few weeks and months for the players to master.

And no map in your HUD is the way it is suppose to be. You'll learn the maps, but the only way to view the map is when the server is loading.

Technically....this could apply to ANY game.

This sounds just like Hostile Intent ( a mod for HL1). Really FANTASTIC game, and REALLY great with co-oping people. But after a few years it started to fall apart, because in order to be good you needed to have patience and be fast/smart.
I remember the time when there was basically 2 clans left (lol), and we had a tournament every week for a championship... great times.

Playing it some more I actually like this game, it is far, far more realistic than CS:S and ultimately more satisfying. When this mod becomes well established then the teamplay will make this game a winner.

There are a few bugs, but they don't ruin the game experience, and as soonas they're sorted out, then it'll be great.

I like it, except for the TK's and spawn camping. I'm sure that will be adressed with the next patch though. It's hard at first, but after you learn where you are supposed to go and learn the maps it gets really fun.

IKIKUINTHENUTZ
07-04-07, 01:27 PM
I like the TKing factor, makes it hard not to shoot at everything :D
It will get easier as you play
The biggest bug I have encounter was I was a insurgent and I spawned into the other team side, of course they butchered me before I could use my shotgun :o

I don't mean accidently shooting your own team, I mean those guys who just shoot everyone as they spawn. They should implement something like if you get 2 teamkills in under 10 seconds you are kicked, or if you get over 5 teamkills for the round you are kicked. For spawncamping they could have like 3 second immunity and design the new maps better.

That is one of the problems with the game at the moment, for some reason they just start tking everyone, I don't really get the mentality of it. :bang head

You know the guy at the bar who is ruining everyone's good time by desperately trying to prove that he's cool by wanting to fight anyone and everyone for no real reason? TKers are just that guy at age 13. It's pure speculation but I strongly suspect the behavoir has a lot to do with being poorly endowed.

I've played a bit more and I'll agree this mod has potential. The graphics are fantastic but I think it would really benefit from an in-game map similiar to BF2 with clearly marked objectives. I have some experience with realism buffs from places like SH3 forums and I know they can become rabid with things like this so call it "Sat imaging" or something.

Secondly the TKing/spawn camping has got to go. Most servers I joined like I said before have far more players on the American team and objectives be damned, all 15 of them were posted outside our 5 guys spawns lobbing grenades and taking potshots. Some auto balancing and an AI controlled machine gun bunker near the spawn is all it would take.

I was a huge fan of Desert Combat and maps like Basrah's edge, Fallujah and Berlin were almost entirely infantry based which was a ton of fun. Hopefully they get these few problems hammered out and we can start an OCF team or something.

You're probably right!

As for the adjustments needed, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. A briefing map should be used and spawn killing should be prevented (although it isn't too bad, sometimes you just run into morons). For those that complain about maps being provided, there is such a thing known as intel. :)

Played it for half an hour. Still needs a lot of work.

-One of the maps has terrible implementations of building shadows...when in a place like Baghdad...the sun should light up just about everything.

-No tracer rounds for the rifles? It really makes the game feel dull. I was disappointed when CSS didnt have this either. Would make the game a lot more intense. Hell...recycle the HL2 effects.

-Weapon sounds seem good.

-Constant tunnel-like echoes of people reloading is annoying.

-Sometimes doorways require you to crawl through them just to pass. Bug.

Basically seems like a modified version of Day of Defeat. Nothing had me on the edge of my seat at all. More hype than delivery so far.

Its really good for being a source mod. Also patch 1.1 has stopped the tking. I think its fun, but it takes a lot of patience.
