Hi guys
i want to know if my temps are alrightThanksFirst off, I assume that is an idle temp, which is of no use. Use Orthos, CPUBurn-in, OCCT, etc., to stress your CPU, then record temps.
21*C is 70*F. Are you running your computer in a freezer, as CPU temps, even at idle, will be significantly higher that the ambient air temp. Try CoreTemp 0.94

They seem very good but you want to run Orthos and see what the temps look like then under load. As long as they are below 60C (65 max if not running 24/7).
Gotta agree those temps seem very low. Try using TAT also and compare the two to make sure something is not off.
The difference between Tat and Core temp on my rig is about 1°c.
thos temps were taken after 30 mins on pro evo

thos temps were taken after 30 mins on pro evoPro evo? I'm assuming that is a game. It doesn't stress BOTH cores, you need to run something like CPUBurn (x2) or Orthos.
most games dont use both cores so why stress it

Because you always train for worst case scenarios. What if you were to be playing a game and decide to minimize the game for a second and run launch another program in the background? Also there could also be things running in the background that are using your CPU and you dont even know it.

lol, thats an attitude...
if u think that way, u really dont need to stress it, just let it go like before and once u run a dual core app/game and ur system locks up/bsod, we'll be back t this topic:attn:

So what's the general rule, is it 24/7 use should be ~60C, benching should be ~65C, is that about right?

My 6420 easily punched 3.2 with orthos temps staying around 55c but thanks to the summer heat I had a few stretches of it reaching 60-63...
Idle is 30-35 depending on time of day...
I am working on mods to airflow so expect better load temps.
Gaming temps stay in the upper 30's and mid 40's.
My advice run Orthos for more than 8 hrs and get a good reading...
here are my orthos results

im not going to run it more then 8 hours i dont even use my computer for that long , does orthos stress your CPU more then a game that supports dual core?

Can definitely push further
if i push further then my memory will become overclocked aswell as its already on 800MHZ and as i up the FSB the mem follows up.
I have 2GB Buffalo firestix
Is that alright?

Right your asking for help. if you want help be nice, if your going to have a bad attitude about yourself you're not going to get any help, you need to do these tests because if it isn't stable it could kill your chip. if you dont take these precautions you could be out a few monies.

You should certainly test your memory independently of the CPU to see how high it can go. Knowing the limit of each of your components (CPU, RAM, and Mobo/FSB limitations) individually will help you to find the highest possible stable overclock.
James how am i not being nice i havent said anything nasty

We're trying to help you but you're not accepting what we say trust me make sure youre overclock is stable.
i have done what everyone has said.
Just because i didnt run orthos for 8 hours doesnt say i didnt follow peoples advice

If 20 minutes orthos stable is good enough for the OP then what do you care? Lay off man.

Yes, when I mentioned Orthos I didnt mean run it for 8 hours or anything but you needs to at least run it for some time to see what the true maximum temperature you can ever achieve if both cores where to be loaded. That said your temperatures seem extremely good. Bump up that suckah and see what it can really do just keep them under 60C or 65C at most.
