i wanna really oc my gf3, and i was hinking of going water cooled, but what about useing a plet ? would that work or no?
this is the water block i might use on my gf3 here (http://www.overclockershideout.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=o&Product_Code=VCAS&Category_Code=VCWC)

if i did i was thinking on having my water cooling setup go res/pump ~ cpu ~ gpu ~ rad...

any ideas on this? thanks

thats a pretty good looking block, don't know how well it works though

i use the video cooler from www.Koolance.com.

its a little less expensive than what you are looking at

but if you go that route, go with the MOBO cooler, becasue it better fits the GeForce 3

also, a little hint

when i watercooled my GeForce 3, the GPU ran cool as anything, but the memory and heatsinks on the memory ran hotter than ever.

the reason i found out from others in the forum is because the OEM fan helps not only cool the GPU but the Heatsinks as well

so you might want to thing about some how putting a fan on it too

like a fan mounted on the side panel of the case blowing directly at it

good luck

the koolance ones are ugly, no offence.. i go more for looks then perforence :) but i dont have holes on my northbrige to have any water blocks.. i have a hsf on there (stock) and its help down my heat pads.. ill get a crystal orb soon for it.. not sure if im gonna epoxy it, or use pads yet..

but still wondering if its worth watercooling/pletier my gf3, or just useing a crystal orb? the orb would save me alot of cash, but if the watercooling has way better perforence then i think ill go that way.. please help? thanks

I wouldn't use a peltier on the GPU unless you don't really value that card all that much- it would be really tough to prevent condensation on a card like that. I guess it depends on how daring you are. :)

yea.. thats what i was thinking... but id just wanna usea like 80watt plet.. i dont think that would condestate much if i sealed it to the water block.. but i dunno... i was an idea, and im looking for the pros cons on the best way to cool a gf3.. im trying to go for 8000+ 3dmark2k1 points.. only 7499 so far and im oc'd as far as i can go with my cooling i have now..

i totally agree, thats why i said that the one you are looking at is a good looking water block

by the way, i don't have any holes on my northbridge either, it came with a Heat sink but.....

on my Heatsink, its held down with a metal looking bracket, kind of like a streched out paper clip

anyways, what i did was use that to hold the waterblock down, then put a dab of ASII adhesive to hold it in place.

it probably would of been fine without the ASII, but i did not want to take chances

yea, i might go with the water block..
but im still gonna wait till i get a few ppl that give me the pros and cons between crystal orb/ water block..

sorry man total BS to that answer... I myself have a gf3ti with that exact watersink and i have a 72watt pelter with a cusi cold plate my video card now runs at 375/580 temps playing 3dmarks2001 on a loop max out to 16c i think that is pretty good but i also have a watersink on my ram on the videocard so i think if U are going to go watercooling go all the way...:burn:

*drools* please tell me you can get pics?
well i just spent 50 bucks on tin ramsinks, so id just plet the gpu..
im 260/590 stock hsf w/ tin ramsinks.. so i got u beat on memory.. seeing u got it watercooled why cant u get the ram higher?
whats ur 3dmark2k1 score? link me ?

Yah, and I've wrecked too much equipment with that attitude. Like I said, it depends on how daring you are. I've been too daring over the last couple of years and I've got a couple thousand dollars worth of destroyed components to prove it. If someone wants to go for it, does't matter to me, I just don't want you guys to go thru all the financial toil that I did.

That being said, I just ordered my new watercooling parts. Time to flush more money down the toilet. ;)

well to me, thats just telling us you dont know what your doing, or not doing it right.. you should learn better after killing one board.. i dont see why ud keep wasteing so much money.. id just fix what i was doing wrong..

Yes I agree with you 100% if U went tru that many boards and other stuff then U are not doing something right at all.. I am not saying that I never burn up a processor or a videocard,, Yes I did. but I learned from my mistake and now I just make sure that I am enough cooling and or no condensation and I will have no worries about burning up anything...:D

Ouch. That hurts.
Well, it could be 'cause I've been water/peltier cooling for 4+ years now. I dunno. Could be because I was making all my own parts before you could order this stuff. Or maybe it's cause I just don't know what I'm doing. Right?

I spent alot of my own cash to experiment with all this crap before it was trendy, and shared all my experiences with the "outside world" to save everyone else the trouble I went through. I'm not saying I don't do stupid stuff from time to time, but making a blanket statement of "you don't know what you're doing" is kinda offensive.

Look, I can take a differing opinion, but personal insults just aren't cool. (especially when i was trying to help in the first place :eh?: )

The thing is its not the amount of time you put in learning what water/pelter cooling is but the efort, as for me i say i have about 5 yrs of work on the pelters and watercooling products. About making the own pelter yes i thought of it plenty of times but the money is not there for me to start a project like that.. but i will start building my own vapor phase change unit.. i think thats alot cheaper then building your on pelter. that just my thought.

And i don't know who is wineing or complaning but i will fix all prroblems!!! right now... ever one have a beer and think of sept 11 and remember that the war is with the outsiders and not with us" Overclockers" but remember one thing use the best knowledge before you start overclocking anything.:burn:

i have 2 amd tbirds a 1.3 and a 1.4 both 266 bus that are cracked both from overtight of a waterblock man was I peed when I heard a little pop that was the cpu breaking under pressure... if I can find my digital I will post some pic of both the cracked cpus and the gf3 ti that is pelter cooled and running great....
