I got everything setup, vacuumed it for 3+ hours. Then I charged with Propane up to 20 PSIg on the H and L sides. Then I turned it on, and nothing happens, I check guages and I see what reads as -20inHg on low side and about +20 PSI on the high side. The compressor dosen't seem to be compressing. I tried putting gas all the way up to 50 PSIg and trying still did nothing, when I ran the flow through the valve you could here a lot of gas flow but the compressor wont compress over 20 PSIg it seems. Wehn I was building I lost a very small amount of Oil but it was not mcuh, NoL said not to worrie about it.

You must be very care full about that, techs been killed by that relatively simple mistake from the cylinder exploding. Now the systems built here are of such small size the risk is low, but keep in mind such things can easily be deadly. This is why under standing how to properly charge and how to properly handle the gauges and such is so infinitely important.

Ok, I have a question about insulation. I have some closed cell polystyrene. It is not the expanded stuiff you find in the packaging of things. it is about 3/4 and 1" thick. It is seems very dense. It is used as an insulation under brick and concrete floors. It melts at over 200C so I dont need to worry about it heating up from anything. Since it is so dense it is very easy to cut. Can this be used with success?
After looking at my setup some more and ideal ways to insulate I have decided I can not use the polystyrene for 100% of the work. It is not flexible enough to make a doghnut around the evap and may not form as well to motherboard parts because it is so dense and is hard to be molded. Maybe i can still use it in places. So I understand HomeDpot/Lowes has a good selection of ArmaFlex, tomorrow I will go pick up some of it, the grease, pipe insulation, electrical tape(solid/liquid), and some long bolts washers and nuts to mount. I know most water forms when you shut it down and any frost that has formed melts. I want to shut it down at night because the computer is in my bedroom and a rotary going all night just wont do. Othern than a nightly shutdown it will be an always on thing so I want to get it unsulated well.
