So, theres 4 of us, we all get together almost every night to play ourselves some Lord of the Rings, Battle for Middle Earth 2. But, its the biggest pain in the ass ever. It would work we'd all be in the game and start playing for about 20 minutes and the battles would start getting heated and it was total chaos yet extremely fun. But out of no where the damn thing would would say "Were sorry the computers in this game have lost "SYNC" and the game has to be closed. Or the game has been modified or adjusted." It does this nearly every game, so i tried updating all our games to the newest patch 1.6, and now we cant even do a network game cause it says we all have different versions and have lost synch with each computer. Even though i downloaded the same patch and just shared it over network so it wouldnt be any different and wouldnt be different. We have this same exact problem with Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour. Is EA just a bunch of morons that dont know what there doing in there LAN games or what? At least Blizzard games work perfectly, Starcraft Warcraft Diablo no problems what so ever but that has no relevence  if anyone has had this problem and knows how to fix it please do share.

I feel your pain. Those two rts's I love to play, but it seems that they dont do perform at all in lan. Its real frustrating after you build up a sweet army and then the game loses sync right before you attack. the sad part is that those games are awesome...when you can get em to work.

Hmm good to know, way to go EA. LOTR BFME 2 is the exact game my buddy and I were thinking of hooking up on... I actually don't RTS very much but he does, and that game seemed to be the one we agreed on. Guess we have to look elsewhere, too bad.

Yes I will admit, C&C Generals ZH is extremely fun to play LAN. Just get a bunch of friends and play each other without bots, because bots make the game lag so much its disgusting. LOTR BFME 2 is also extremely fun when it works, but it loses the sync with the other comnputers to often and it really makes us mad. When that happens we head back to trying to beat 3 Insane bots in Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne with the 4 of us, or we just go way back to Starcraft Broodwar and team up against as many bots as we can. Good times, good times.

For sure SC is the only RTS I ever really played. Maybe we'll just stick with that

Tell me your ways on beating insanes, we still cant do it, lol.
Our LANs tend to play nice with EA's RTS (well...CnC3 and a messed up modded Zero Hour, at least, haven't tried any of the others) - except for the whole "evreyone needs their own key" thing. That gets annoying, so workarounds are obviously found if we are to have anything greater then a 2v2...
4v4s are delicious in Zero Hour. Except evreyone except me is a booming turtle...muhahaha. So I get to drive the opposing team insane with bat**** crazy nonstop I will annoy you to death ninja attacks :sn: =P
Of course...the other 3 guys on my team get to keep doing what they're doing...
Too bad it lags insanely even on LAN...crappy netcode for you there.

CC Zero Hour. LAN or Hamachi...good chance of dropping. Ironically it never happens when you're losing. Usually when you got a huge army and are about to steamroll the computer. And yeah...this game lags like hell. Cant do anymore than 3v3/4v2 computers...regardless of our system specs.
CC3. EVEN WORSE. My dad, brother, friend and I...have to jump in a game (if we even see the host's game) and quickly select team, color, side and click ready like a game of musical chairs. And then the risk to drop during the game IS EVEN HIGHER than Zero Hour.
Gotta love having to open a million ports across all routers too...which in the end...does nothing most of the time.
I think they recycled the same crappy netcode personally.

Age of Empires 2 is alot of fun :)Agreed. Too bad running Supcom is pretty difficult when you mostly have single-core users amoung your friends.
Age2 also is tons of fun, but we've never had enough luck to get enough people into at once to have a large game =(
