I just ran into the good fortune of picking up a FREE celeron system from a friend. The mobo is a Soyo 6-IZA with a Celeron 500 running great @ 625 :D

Thing is, this system is old and the AGP slot is a basic version 1.0 Does anybody have experience using a modern AGP card in a AGP1x system?? I understand most cards are backwards compatible, but all the way to 1x? I really don't know if a good GeForce PCI card is slower than an AGP 1x version, any suggestions or recommendations? Would like to play 3d games and have a clear screen @ 1152 resolution, THANKS for any input!

That's not helpful at all! get a 50 dollar vid card I was thinking more like a Voodoo 5 or a GF2 or a TNT2 Ultra, a Kryo II, anything that would work in an AGP 1x slot.

PS: I keep the GF3 beast on my watercooled Athlon XP1600, #3 on the OC database! 260 core 555 mem, please

There's a link here (http://www.vr-zone.com/guides/3DMark2001/) of an insane watercooled peltiered GF3. I learnt my lesson when I blew a capacitor of my Elsa GF2 ultra, but looks fun though :D

So, nobody's got an old box with AGP 2x or 4x card working? Any good PCI suggestions?
