Well, Im building a comp. I plan to eventually go water but I will build that setup seperately. This is mainly a gaming rig but I'll be doing some light video/audio work as well. Lemmie know what you think of the parts I've chosen and if anything could be improved and what just plain sucks. I want SLI at a later date and im looking to overclock to about 3.4+ghz on air. Im seeing more and more about the g0 stepping chips that I know little about so if you could shed a little light on how they may or may not help in performance for gaming, it would be appriciated as well.
ASUS Striker Extreme
EVGA 640-P2-N821-AR GeForce 8800GTS 640MB GDDR3
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio 7.1

Oops, sorry... I was getting both of those from a different site so I fergot about putting em in the list.
Case: Thermaltake Armor Aluminum Case w/ 250mm Side Panel Fan - Silver (xoxide)
-Figured I shouldnt skimp out on the case since its something I can use over and over and I'll need some decent cooling (air) until I get the water running.
PSU: OCZ GameXStream OCZ600GXSSLI ATX12V 600W Power Supply
Im gonna air cool until I get settled down so I can make the water setup fit according to space available. The PSU I figured would be more then enough to to run an SLI setup.

What batch/stepping is your E6600, looks good, pretty similar to the setup I'm running

I dont know yet. Its all sitting on my wish list with my CC in hand getting ready to hit "purchase" but now im having secon thoughts on the processor. I went with that mobo to give me the most upgrade options in the future but now im lookign at a few new chips and the different steppings. Im thinking I may hold off a little bit and snoop around some more but now im just confusing myself.
I hear the E6420's are better then the E6600 for overclocking? Or is it a different chip? mind....going to.... explode!

Yeah I'm in a similar situation. This is what I've narrowed down:
x6750 or q6600(g0) The problem here is that you have to pay extra or wait if you want the g0 stepping quad. The x6750 is $80 cheaper anyways, and will be plenty of performance, but it isn't a quad...
Ultra 120 Extreme w/ 2 114CFM fans in a push/pull config
320 or 640MB 8800GTS (probably EVGA)..I say forget SLI and just sell this when you wanna upgrade later.
P35 chipset Mobo w/ ICH9R (going to be using the Matrix RAID).
Either 2 more 250GB/16MB WD HDDs for a total of 4 in Matrix RAID 0/5, or 2+ 250GB/16MB new Barracudas in Matrix RAID 0/(1or5) and sell the WDs (if I can).
Silverstone 560W Zeus PSU.
Might re-use my custom modded case (very old, but i knocked 9 holes for a grand total of 12 80mm case fans), or get a new one. I like the ones with the 250mm fans on the side, but I wish you could replace the fan some how.
Already bought 2x1GB Ballistix 6400. Scooped it up yesterday just before the MIR expired and they jacked up the price. If you get the G.Skill get the HZs.
Going to re-use my Auzentech Xplosion DTS sound card.
I've been researching for a while, and from what I've read I think this will be a kick-ass system without killing the bank!
