I ordered a Alpha PAL 8045 from www.1coolpc.com, I live in the UK even though they had to ship it over I got it after 2days!!

To make things better Its lapped!!! No ridges and I can see my face in it!

Only thing is when I get my 2100+ and I attach this thing how do I know when I've got the pressure right?

I mean I don't wanna crush:eek: my new XP, so how:confused:

Hi nick_cw

You got one at last well join the club it is an impressive H/Sink

Did you get the instructions with yours? If so it explains about setting up the Alpha via the 4 Mobo holes & how to tighten.
You can not really overtighten this H/Sink as the screws sort of bottom out. If you find the H/Sink is able to move if you give a slight twist then strip it down & use 1 extra washer (supplied) on the base of the head on each screw that will do the trick.

Hope this helps.

when i had mine, i used 3 washers on each screw instead of 2 for better clamping power.. i just tightened them as far as they'd go be4 i couldnt move the sink..

Thanks a lot Sonny:p he shipped it out at 12 in the night!!:D

Yes I got the instructions with it, so let me get this, it shouldn't be able to twist or rock or move at all when its on? (My WBK38 moved) if this is so then surely it has to be tightened a lot right?

SO is there a risk of crushing my CPU....I don't wanna mank my 2200+!

I think I shall experiment with mounting it (I want best contact as its permanent TIGHT) when I've got it ok then apply AS2.

I'm leaving my XP locked as my FSB goes higher than the CPU ever could so when the HSF is on its staying on!!!

Thanks for the help!

On the Shuttle AK31 you need to look very closely as there are some very small chips that are in the way of the nylon washers. I had to trim the washers so they would sit flat on the motherboard. Also I found some small traces leading from a chip that I had to clip the nylon washers. Once the screws bottom out with the springs in place your done. The insrtuction do say you may need to apply another washer though if needed.

I have a 8KHA+!

I heard you have to uyse the small washers else it won't touch the core....

DO I need a shim?
