Thinking of getting myself one of those. Decided to stick to the Glaciator II until I found out that it would cost me almost $62, shipping to Sweden included, when I can get the Volcano 7 for $40 and the Volcano 6cu+ for $20 at Swedish stores.

Are the performance gains really worth those 42 extra bucks, or should I go for one of the cheaper ones?

I guess anything's better than my current SilentSystems hsf

I thought the volcano 7 worked pretty well for my athlon xp 1600+. It was $24 + shipping (Texas). I was a little disappointed when I discovered that the temperature diode that controls the fan's speed is at the top of the unit, and therefore the fan rpms are controlled by the case's ambient temperature, and not the CPU temp. This is bad for OC'ing if you have several case fans and good case airflow, because the HSF won't hit very high rpms due to low ambient temps. It was getting about 3300 rpm when the fan is able to hit 5000. So i just cut out the little diode and twisted the wires back together. Now the fan runs at 5000 rpm and cools my system very well.

I recommend this heatsink because it's cheap, not too loud, and performs well (as long as you trash the fan speed control diode). However, if you can find a glaciator or glaciator 2 for about the same price, I'd get that instead.

GlaciatorII :) No matter how much TT tries, they just can't get anything right... well, except for their Blorbs... Just get the MTS GlaciatorII and you WON'T be dissapointed.

On the front page under "Click here for Heatsink Performance Ratings" the Millennium II is in 5th place where as the Volcano 7 is in 14th place and the Volcano 6 is in 19th place. This is not to say that these heatsinks are no go but you can get better performance from the Millennium II which runs at 5,700rpm @ 36dba. Hope this helps. :)

Good choice.. I mean they will last ! You could use that Glaciator II for lifting weights too :)
