View Full Version : Global Win CAK38 + Athlon XP OCed to 2000+
Will a CAK38 handle an athlon xp 1500+ overclocked to 2000+? i will be using a Soltek SL-75DRV2 and will have a relativly cool case with about 4 fans. what do you think, smart people? (if it cant handle it, please give me some suggestions, preferably cheap)

the cak-38 is a good hsf, altho if u wanna use it, id lapp it alot, mine came really bad. the bottom was wavy.. then id get a delta 6000-7000rpm fan...
other hsf would be the sk6 with a good rpm delta, or water cooling.. 1500+ to 2000+ is a big jump.. so good luck...
You won't get to 2000 buddy the most ever done was only up to 1800 and that was with exceptional cooling possibly water cooling+ peltier he got it to 180fsb too...
Air cooling is alright but I would go with the SK6 w/ Delta 50 or 38 or a Swiftech MC - 462a or a MCX - 462.
Tsunami -- Im sorry i must have misled you, i meant roughly 1666 Mhz or "2000+" as AMD would call it. heh 2000mhz is a little high for a newbie like me.
dissolved -- what is "lapp"?

well lapping is useing sand paper on a glass surface to flat out the heatsink it so touches the cpu core alot better.. this is a major help in cooling the cpu. esp with the cak-38

Not sure I understand, can you elaborate, or tell me a place to find information on this technique?
