View Full Version : Need an interim PSU - cheap but steady...

Howdy folks,

My relatively ancient system (see sig below...) has started rebooting to the point that I can't even run an antivirus scan. On a good day I can websurf.

Sounds like the PSU to me.

Until I can scrape up the necessary funds for a long-overdue modern system build, I need to purchase a PSU that will solve the stability issues without being more than I need.

I'm thinking 350 - 400W, and less than $50.

I've read (some of) the stickies and browsed Newegg, but am still a bit overwhelmed.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
T.

Either of these would work.

The Sparkle has two SATA, but other than that, they will perform about the same.

Edit: I gave the same link twice, h/o.

Looks good...

I had heard some scoffing in years gone by about Sparkle PSU's (probably the 200W units that came with cheap cases), but these look like the ticket.
My case is a pretty humongous server case, so the multiple long lines are a plus.

Thanks a bunch!

Just realized I gave the same link twice in the first post. Things should be fixed now. Sorry about that.

I would still take the Sparkle, though, if you already placed an order.

Yep, already ordered.

The Newegg reviews I'd read all said good things about the FSP, but a lot of them mentioned the short cables.
Can't do that with my server case.

So, no buyer's remorse here...

Thanks again for the help,
T.

I always use antec.
