Thanks for the heads up, but I just tried playing it and it seemed the worst online mod I had played in ages. Still my main issue with it was that it felt like Wolfenstein ET, and most people liked that, so it could just be me.

This game is NOTHING special at all. Its a DoD clone...and not even worthy of having 2 threads in this forum.

Does anyone else get some stupid "Your version of map [blah blah blah] differs from the server" error?

Awww, this is way way better than DOD. The problem with DOD is that the maps are way to linear, theres one to two ways tops to get to each flag, boooring.

But INS is probably my favorite Source mod to date. Its fantastic to play with a group of 5-6 friends in Vent working together.

Oh yeah! Sorry, I hate doing stupid things like not installing patches. Thanks :D

My issues are:

-It's not immediately clear what you are meant to do on any of the maps.

-The animations are rather poor.

-The game feels clunky, not the smooth and precise control of CS:S or BF2.

-There seems to be little real co-operation.

-It seems to be an attempt to do BF2 style gameplay (albeit with greater realism) with undersized teams, small maps and no vehicles.

Having bitched about all that it does have a great deal of charm and I hope that it progresses. I just feel that the hype is unjustified because it is such an early and incomplete build that can be a pain in the ass to play. But I suppose that going off and playing BF2 or Armed Assault instead might be more satisfying, but it won't help to encourage development of this mod.

I don't see how the gameplay can be justified because its "so new and so early in development"

If you ask me, the most detail should go to gameplay...because that is what will sell it to players first and foremost. The core of a game shouldnt need more than some tweaks here and there.

Another problem with this game, is that it is jumping on the bandwagon of taking advantage of the current war. Unfortunately, there are popular games like Americas Army, ARMA and Battlefield 2, Call of Duty 4, GRAW2, etc that are already doing that so the competition is high.

Oh...and any game can be considered fun playing with friends. Its not something unique to this game...which is my main beef with it...is that there is NOTHING that separates it from the pack other than its a free mod for a game that many gamers already own.

If it was like Counter Strike I would of loved it but it felt too over rated. They should of made it fast like CS:S not some try-to-be real life thing like DOD... I hate spending the extra seconds to prone and aim down the sights to kill someone come on!

But we must jump on the realism bandwagon and hold ourselves higher than others because we're playing more realistic games!!!!

Some people really dig the slower paced realistic type gameplay like America's Army... others like fast paced FPS like Unreal Tournament and to a lesser and CS, though CS is not quite as faced paced as Unreal...

I'm an extremely fast pace gamer and I can tell you what, INS is a great change. Sure there are a lot of bugs at the moment, but tell me one mod of this 'magnitude' that did NOT have any issues. Quit being so damn hard on it, these people worked pretty hard to come up with something of this quality. This could be a game on its own if it wanted to. It just takes some time to get used to. And +1 to DeepSky, you can change the tide of a map if you have a few buddies or even just people in the server team playing. It gets pretty intense honestly.

Hey I'm not putting the guys down who took their time to create the mod. They did a good job designing the weapons, characters, objects and I do think they kinda revamped the lighting a little. Just not my thing... It feels like AA I should of added that in besides DOD.. It's a good mod but not for the CS addicts.

I doubt they were trying to make another CS... so no one is saying this was made for CS players.

If you read my posts again, I don't spend a lot of the time focusing on the bugs with the game. It is expected...there was a lot initially...and this last patch squashed a lot of them.

I don't find the gameplay appealing at all and don't understand why others would gloat about the game as if its revolutionary or something. I play everything from the Tom Clancy series to deathmatch games, Battlefield series, and CS too.

As for being too hard...I'm not into blowing smoke up anyone's arse about anything. When you create something, if you aren't prepared for criticism, constructive or otherwise...then you shouldn't be in the business of releasing it to the public. Gotta take the good with the bad.
