The WOW Signal

Was watching some late night science programs last night. One was devoted to SETI, and made for interesting viewing. Has anyone ever heard of the WOW signal. If not read on Here (http://www.bigear.org/wow.htm)

Yes, I have. It is the only signal to possibly have been ET in origin. Unfortunately, at the time it could not be confirmed properly and has not been found since although it is not looked for very often. Many in the field don't think is is worth any effort to continue looking for it, even those who do want to look have a hard time getting time on the right equipment.

Tantalizing to say the least. It is always really sad when a possibly exciting discovery is made in the past at a time when it can't be pressed forward with the abilities we have today.

Yes I saw that - the signal was so interesting that somebody circled it and wrote "wow" But alas it hasn't been further investigated.

Don't you find it strange TC that there was no further investigation, because the signal disappeared before they could trianglate its position. I don't know how a signal would just vanish like that.

Indeed it is strange that they are searching very diligently, yet when they came across the best signal found thus far it was almost ignored afterwards.
