I think I like that one better, too, ROBB. :)

Nice test.

Your raw speed was 3053703.02 bits per second.
There are 3 meaningful ways we can interpret this number:
Communications
3.1 megabits per second
Storage
372.8 kilobytes per second
1MB file download
2.7 seconds
compared to all connection types worldwide yours is fantastic

well i got a 56k modem
our raw speed was 33411.73 bits per second.
There are 3 meaningful ways we can interpret this number:
Communications--33.4 kilobits per second
Storage--4.1 kilobytes per second
1MB file download--4.2 minutes

sheesh.... IE timed out 3 times for me when i was trying to load the bloody page.... and then when i finally got the thing to work it told me this
Communications
11.9 kilobits per second
How communication devices are rated. Kilo means 1,000 and mega means 1,000,000. Examples include 56k modem and 10Mbit Ethernet
Storage
1.5 kilobytes per second
The way data is measured on your hard drive and how FTP programs measure transfer speeds. Kilo is 1,024 and mega is 1,048,576.
1MB file download
11.7 minutes
The time it would take you to download a 1 megabyte file at this speed.
and
compared to all connection types worldwide yours is poor

Hey panda nice to have a fellow Minnesotan on the CS team. How far out in the sticks do ya live-I grew up about a 100 miles west of the twin cities in a town of about 1400 people and that was on holidays and counting the cemetary.

Your raw speed was 1766901.96 bits per second.
There are 3 meaningful ways we can interpret this number:
Communications
1.8 megabits per second OR
215.7 kilobytes per second OR
4.7 seconds
The time it would take you to download a 1 megabyte file at this speed.
at first, i thought this test was a little inflated, but then i realized that sometimes AT&T's servers are really busy, and whatever medium they use to enforce my cap doesn't always kick in right away, so sometimes i can get 4-5 Mbits for 20-30 seconds..... but sure as snow, it always kicks in sometime or another before i'm done downloading...........stupid cap........ 1500/300......
i really wish they would change the cap to 2000/400 like time-warner does in the areas adjacent to me.

Ah shucks come on those are some pretty sweet speeds. unless you are running some servers you probably don't NEED any more speed than what your getting. Heck a T-1 line is 1.5/1.5 and your getting at least that on your downloads consistently. Even If your running a server-game, FTP, small web-consistent 300K uploads is fine. Would we like more speed?-YES do we Need more speed-probably not at this time but give it a few years and well all be clamoring for more.
Cheers!
All y'all true broadbanders make me sick with jealousy! I am lucky to get ~27 KB/sec with my dial-return Hughes Satellite (DirecPC or now they call it DirecWay). But hey, that is way better than modem alone!
BTW, Robb I like your avatar - Boondock Saints rule!
