If not to much trouble can you list the Fastest setting you can achieve artifact free

Im just trying to figure out what the deal with my card is.

I cant understand why my Vmem is 3.5 and not the OEM default of 3.15Vmem, and able to run 300/300 without the bios flash nor a voltage mod.

(Trust me Im not complaining just trying to figure this mystery out so I can help others) This OEM came from Royal Pc and is a China made card. I also wanna thank the OEM manufacturer as I am sure ATI would be ****ed that this OEM is as fast or faster than the $299 retail box.) :burn:

Thanks in Advance,

Sam

Oh, im sorry i didnt bother to look there as well, silly me:rolleyes: Is there a manufacturing date on the card? And as i understand (plz tell me if im wrong) that your card was not "Built by ATI", might just be that this manufacturer put the memory at 3.5v instead of 3.15vmem, OEM cards are known to be different from the retail one, more so if they are made by a third party. I hope i understood right;)

My card is a Powered by ATI, not a Made by ATI(I have a chinese made 8500) has a made in China sticker on back lol

Heres the info I have thus far, I just wanted to know the Bios info, if its a retail or OEM and the fastest setting you can go while being artifact free

I realize the ODM's make them differently but I was under the assumption that ATI forced the ODM makers to use a 3.15 Vmem setting. Ill know more soon

Per ATI-
Q1: What is a “Powered by ATI” Partner Product?

A1:
An ATI Partner Product is a graphics board that is based on an ATI chipset but manufactured by a company other than ATI. These other manufacturers, sometimes referred to as Original Design Manufacturers (ODM’s) or Add-in Board (AIB) manufacturers, buy ATI graphics chips and design their own board product around it. This allows them to decide what product features, performance and pricing are best suited to the marketplace. This provides consumers with a greater choice in graphics products to meet their configuration, performance or budget needs while delivering the technical excellence found in ATI graphics chips.

Q3: Does a Partner Product vary in performance and functionality to an ATI Retail Product?

A3:
Since Partner Products are based on ATI chipset technology, it is possible for Partner Products to have the same features and performance as ATI retail products. However, ATI chipsets do support a wide variety of memory configurations and display output options that allow Partner Products to also come in a multitude of performance and feature configurations. Please visit the websites of our Partner Product manufacturers for vendor specific specifications.

Mines an OEM flashed with retail BIOS and its -102

I think your card was really a RETAIL card but somehow got flashed with OEM BIOS, which would explain everything. Its not uncommon for this to happen cuz the demand for OEM versions of the card would be A LOT higher than Retails, so if ATi doesn't have enough OEMs in stock, they'll just take some retail cards and flash em with OEM BIOS.

Physically, both cards are the SAME cept for the resistors and BIOS versions, so it doesn't cost ATi MORE to make a Retail card than an OEM (except for the newer OEMs which have crappy 4ns ram)

The ONLY difference between Retail and OEM BIOS is the default clock @ which the cards are set to, i'm sure that 95% of all the ppl who flashed their OEM cards with Retail BIOS will tell you that they DID NOT gain anything in overclocking. I know I didn't."

The reason the BIOS FLASH isnt the magic bullet is due to the fact that there is a Voltage issue that the BIOS FLASH DOES NOT RECTIFY, BUT MACCI DID COME UP WITH A SOLUTION The Link below tells you how to fix this undervoltage issue, then the BIOS FLASH SHOULD WORK AS FIRST THOUGHT

Here is a link to test the Vmem on your OEM (Picture) http://virtual5.nebula.fi/~efidata/images/macci/ati/ramvoltage.jpg

This thread goes into detail , pay particular attention to Macci's posts he is astute on this matter (http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?threadid=33588280&perpage=20&pagenumber=19)

Iīm not exatly sure what card I have; Iīm just in the middle of an argument with my supplier over what it is, and why it was used. :(

I think itīs an ATI OEM(8500LE) version, it has a 102 part number and is clocked at 250/250.

If anybody can tell for sure if it really is that I would appreciate it.

Henry.

Henry, you have an OEM and actually you are luckier then some, as some OEM's are 220 or 230 core and memory
