The past few months my true 500 watt Ultra X power supply has been making a switching noise in intense gaming. It never did this in the previous 2 years. The computer doesn't reboot or anything and I don't even get kicked out of the MMO's I'm playing it just makes a switch noise like chhhachunk pretty loudly and the screen flickers and it goes on working just fine.
I guess that is why they call it a switching power supply but what is it really doing when it does that and is something wrong with it?
