Are there any programs that can help me tweak WinME?
Do you guy know of any "known" tips for tweaking ME?
Do you know where I can find resources on tweaking ME?

I think the best tweak is to reformat your hard drive and install another OS. Just kidding but seriously I personally wasn't a big fan of ME and neither was the majority of people who like to tweak their computers.
Try posting this in the OS forums and you might get answers. Many users will simply ignore a post put in the wrong forum.

reformat and get another OS. I had winME, and I couldn't network with 98SE. It is the worst OS ever, good thing I got XP pro!

Thats what I was going to say as soon as I saw the thread. I shouldn't really say much though, I never had ME, but i had 98 and from what I hear, ME sucks. Stick to the NT line. Got XP now, it's OK except for hardware. My radeon ve really doesnt like XP, and I downloaded the newest drivers too.
TWEAKUI is a great free tool from Microsoft that works with every version of windows - microsoft refuses to support it but it will make your system run better with what it allows you to do.
i have been using ME and my system is running better with it... tweaking made the difference
here are some that i have found helpful
http://www.pcpitstop.com/
this is an online service that you may find helpful
there is a program called TweakME... this i found very useful you can use it free for 10 days i believe.......find it on zdnets download pages...and others
Nortons ( or is it Symantec...?) Systemworks. has many utilities that help
my favorite (and probably has helped me the most) is a program called Cacheman. it helps you set cache sizes for ME. it has many wizards that simplify the process!
i hope this will help all for now dms
i failed to add this url to my last reply.... it is for the program called Cacheman.... you can get it at
www.outertech.com
hope this helps dms
I also think you should reformat and get red of ME and go with 98SE or Win2k
I think ME is the worst windows you can have its filled with bugs, unstable and well my suite mate has it and it basicaly sucks
ohhh ok whats a suite mate?
where are you ...? down under?
i had problems with ME too especially at first... now seems to be ok and my stats are better.... i returned to 98se and could not get as good results as i was getting...
i would like to get xp asap
all for now!! thanks for your time!
dms
No Im not from down under Im from the US, and a suite mate is like a roommate but he doesnt live in my room its the room next to my in a suite

Its seems to me this person did not ask what OS should i run he asked how to make the one he has better, lets not lose focus here people.
Me is a perfectly fine OS in fact it has the same DOS kernal as 98 and DOS can be written back in if you prefer, I have my system overclocked to the max and it runs great for gaming and Seti. Anyway i'll start with this and you can ask for more info if you choose, cleaning out your start up menu is first and most important run msconfig and take everything out except scanreg and system tray you may need to leave a few items installed to keep certain things runningother then that less is more in this case. Second set your PC up as a network server. Set virtual memory to 384 min and max if your running 256mb memory. In file system properties set CD ROM supplemental cache size to the first notch on the left it should give you 278KB. Make sure your not searching for a floppy evertime you boot up. Allot of people may argue but the choice is yours, I like to run with system restore disabled it does hog up resources in file system truoble shooting you can check the box, there are programs that will completely remove it if you want but checking the box is a good start. As was said and i do this too run to pcpitstop and go through there test and configure everything to get rid of all flags if you can. good luck

Try Xteq Systems X-Setup, it is a good tweak program for all version of windows after 95.
You can get it here (http://www.xteq.com/downloads/#xset).
