Hey all I just got this spanking new phone from Verizon and I was looking up on custom ring tones. I found this program called BitPim, that allows you to access the phone system (CDMA) so you can transfer data (calender, phone book, mp3, etc). My problem is that, it supports the VX8500, but it wont for the VX8550.
Verizon VCast software also doesnt support it for some reason 0.o I got the Chocolate 2 because it was on sale but I also wanted a mp3 player along with it.
Does anyone know of any software that will let me transfer data back and forth like that?
Thanks

The problem may be that the VX8550 does not have the hardware installed to do the transfers...at least thats why I cant do any transfers with my phone...it is a cheaper version so they did not install all the components like the more expensive model.

No I got the Music pack that has the USB connector, and I got my computer to see the phone and the phone to see the computer.

The issue is not of making the connection wireless or not, but just accessing the information stored on the phone.
I didn't have time to search around, but HowardForums (http://www.howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=155) is where I get most of the info for my phone.

Well after days of searching no luck :( Seems like there is not much of software support even from Verizon! Grrr-ness I say!

I have the USB connector also but it will not allow me to :
Upload/download pictures
upload/download ring tones
I do have a different phone but it is an LG also...
They are notorious for this kind of junk...

I hear about people using BitPim for the VX8500 (orginal chocolate) and it works fine for them. I cant even read any of the data on the phone. Trying to see if I can make a patch perhaps.

 I also have the lg VX 8550 chocolate new phone and it is too new for bitpim at the moment. They have not programmed their software for the new phone, although I expect it will be done by the next bitpim updated version. I read somewhere that using the vx 8300 setting for bitpim currently works for the new 8550 chocolate phone, however I haven't tried it yet.
If all you are trying to do is add mp3 music, then you can do that through the micro SD card (after formatting it).
PS - I've found that through bitpim, you can cut down an mp3 song and make save it as a ring tone - this worked very well with my lg vx 8100. When it works properly, bitpim is an awsome program for our phones. I hope I helped - good luck!

Thanks a lot cheetah, but yeah I found out that through bitpim you can make an mp3 and set it as a ring tone, and hopefully take in and out wallpapers. Really hope that they soon support my phone ^^ Im paying enough for it as is.
