I just ordered one last night from here http://www.priceguidenetwork.com/computer-component/intel-cpu-core-2-duo-e6850-3ghz-fsb1333mhz-4m-lga775-retail.html and it's a little cheaper at $286.99. There is only 9 left.

Hrm -

I couldn't seem to find them using Intel's "Processor Spec Finder" for some reason. Maybe I applied incorrect filtering, or they're not yet listed. I looked in the Core 2 Duo section.

Anyway, my understanding is all the 6x50's will be initially released as G-0 steppings. If this is accurate, and the 6x50's are now becoming available thru retail channels, this might bode well for seeing Q6600 G-0's soon thru retail, too, hopefully.

I'm really hurting for a G-0 Q6600 in case you haven't noticed!

You C2D G-0 guys are lucky you will get to play with your new toys now!

Chances are good that some of the q6600s in the channel right now are already G0s. Someone posted here a little while ago about their q6600 and showed a screenshot, not even realizing there was anything special about G0 :p I'll find it here in a minute...

You know what....helluva' coincidence....I was actually thinking of starting a thread making a "bet" that the Q6600 G-O's would surface somewhere thru retail by the 22nd, and that the pricing would be at or below 300 USD somewhere in retail, also on the 22nd!

Only trouble was I didn't know where to put such a thread or (especially) if the mods would want it!

"Thanks for the interesting info. Everything points to a B3 except the FPO/Batch which I though said G0." uhhh...wheres the SS proving its G0 lol

Whoa!

Hah...I replied in that thread in detail!

But it's good you brought it up, because the OP apparently replied further, and I was not aware he did this. Thx!

OK -

I only memorized how to decipher the FPO/Batch for the first 4 alphanumeric chars, which give the country-of-origin, and the week and year of manufacture. Even tho the OP's 5th and 6th positions in his FPO/Batch are "G0" I do not believe this refers to a G-0 stepping. I believe it is a coincidence. Unfortunately, I don't know what those last 4 positions in the FPO/Batch represent.

The OP needs to look at his s-Spec number at the end of the Prod code on the box, or on the top of the IHS. If it's "SL9UM" It's a B3, and if it's "SLACR", it's a genie G-0! I explained this in my reply to him....maybe I wasn't too clear on this.

I'm going reply to that thread and update it while referencing this thread.

Thanks for bringing it up, MadMan007!

Allstarshop always lists new components early to sucker people into ordering. More often than not, if you call them, they won't be in stock. Shucks, we just sold out today, but we'll have more within a few days.

Yeah I realized the same thing you did after I posted - the thing to know would be the s-spec off the box not the batch code. So chances are his is not a g0 given the old pack date however it's not unreasonable to think that there are some g0 q6600s in the channel right now. The 6x50s have a specific future release date, the q6600 is already out as a regular product.
