Where do you see it as 512mb? If you are in Windows, can you post a screenshot of your Taskmanager (ctrl+alt+delete). Also, is this just 1 stick or is it a set?

iv got two 1gb sticks in one is 333mhz, and shows up as 1GB, the other doesn't say what MHZ it is. but if i plug it in on its own and go into bios, it shows up as 166MHZ 512 mb. in my task manager in performance i have physical memory (MB) total 1534, cached 1040, free 6, kernal memory (MB) total 112, paged 76 non paged 36, dont no what it means got me stuck ?

It sounds like a mislabeled or missbinned module. It happens occasionally if you purchased the memory from a discount retailer. Where did you get it from? I came across this problem often when I worked for a memory retailer. Our suppliers would mistakenly send the wrong size module labeled as something else. We usually caught it in testing but, sometimes a customer would get one and we'd have an RMA on our hands.

It has noting to do with your motherboard, if it did, both sticks would show up as 1gb while installed by themselves.

yeah thanks for that iv sent it back today for a replacement cheers
