I have ADSL (Ameritech) and the modem is a stingray (yes, the sea creature) looking thing that has a cable going to the wall-phonejack(of course) that plugs into my computer via USB port. I have two computers networked via NIC cards and a Siemens Cable/DSL Speedstream router. Since the ADSL modem is USB, it can't connect to the router thru the RJ45 (I think it's called), it has to connect directly to one of the computers.
Both system are running Windows XP Home, and have followed all the wizards, and tried manually to configure a network. They both share a network connection and we can share files, printers, but no internet connection. The computer that is set on the network to share the internet connection from the other computer doesn't recognize the connection. According to pics in Windows xp troubleshooting, this should work. Thanks, in advance for any help. If there is more info needed for someone to help, let me know!!

Witch conection are you trying to use ICS on the modem or the broadband connection. the ICS should be on the broadband connection (pppoe conection). Let me know how it works out. That modem isn't that bad by the way it was the first usb modem with drivers for winxp

yes, I understand your question, but have tried both (out of desperation). Still no avail....yet. I am currently trying to use a 3rd party networking software called All Aboard! Don't see anything in it that is different than the networking interface already included in Win xp. It's almost to the point that I WILL MAKE THIS WORK!

speaking of the drivers, if anyone needs it, along with how to set it up, let me know.....

Have you tried it with the widows based ICS and it didn't work or did you all ready have all aboard. From what I hear all aboard has problems with the pppoe software in winxp and people have had success with raspppoe and all aboard. Others just use winxp to do all the shareing. If you use raspppoe and have a problem with the service tech support will not help.

yes, I have tried it with Windows XP sharing to no avail. All Aboard seems to have problems also. Not sure what raspppoe is, can you enlighten me? Thanks.

raspppoe stands for remote access point to point over ethernet. It is a third party pppoe client that is suppose to work better with all aboard the the default winxp version.

I have been able to ICS !!! I downloaded this proxyi utility from Analogx.com. and the setup was a breeze, just a matter of setting a few ip addresses correctly and 'Bam it works.... after weeks of trying on and off.

that's great. You might want to be careful if you have a problem with the connection down the road. Your current configuration will lock you out from getting technical support if you need it. if you have a problem you will need to set up your system as a stand alone with the winxp client back on it.
