Well I'm in Virginia on my mom's laptop and it seems more sluggish than it should be.

Intel Celeron M 370 @1.5 Ghz
"256Mb" RAM 4-3-3-9 DDR2 single channel @ 200 Mhz (My computer properties report 192Mb and so does C Cleaner)
5400rpm HDD
XP Home

Amazon Spec link (http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Satellite-L25-S119-Notebook-Processor/dp/B000BJKFIM)

My mom does a lot of web browsing, photos, and photoshop all the time and she doesn't want to buy a new laptop or wait for all this crap to load. (I've already gotten rid of a lot of crap from startup and background programs)

Would adding more RAM help this situation? If so, how much (help and MB)?

Thanks as always :)

For laptop and for anything else I would not look for less than a 1gb. Under xp it will plenty enough. If laptop is not total piece of junk after adding extra memory difference should noticeable.

A laptop also uses more resources for touchpad and battery saving programs...so 512mb I suggest is a minimum. You will see a very large difference in performance.

Where can I find out how much memory this laptop can hold? I can easily get 2Gb for really cheap right now and might as well.

Got it nevermind, 2 slots, can hold 2Gb

Looking at these Crucials (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146517), I need fast shipping since I will be gone in 7 days.

Bought the 2Gb crucial kit, sorry potential sellers :)

Glad to know about laptop memory issues.

1gb on my laptop was not enough so I went for some g.skill 2gb stick with the heatshield. Works greatly.

Ugh, apparently the billing address was the P.O. box so it's still stuck on step 1. I think I'll have to call them...

Newegg still rocks of course :)

The difference of 2GB is amazing, I feel like I'm running my C2D at home instead of a 1.5 Celeron!

I have to make sure everyone I know with a laptop has 2GB of RAM now...
