Where did you get this beast of a waterblock, made it yourself? Looks really awesome...

I bought the block from someone who makes them. But I am hating myself right now for how much I had to pay for the block.... take a guess
$100?
How does it perform?
$120
how well does it work? (if you have at least tried it yet)

they make that whole universal fit bracket and only the s775 holes are drilled, weird
hecktic
07-19-07, 08:13 PM
$190
and yes its a universal mounting but you need to drill through the outlined holes for the other sockets if you want to use it for another board other than LGA775
I have never got the chance to use it. I dont even want it anymore and want to get rid of it now.
Its really a collectors type item... Im sure it performs good though.. 1/2" ID x 3/4" OD

Good gawd thats one sexy block.
But seriously, that block is worth more than my entire loop. Although I don't doubt that it wouldn't be worth it to someone who wanted on of the best.

Whats on the inside? Shine is nice, but what's the design concept?

I hesitate to ask this question, but:
How do you use 3 holes?
One in, one out, and one?

Are there any performance reviews of this block?

That is one expensive block!!
Are you gnna use it on your loop or just for display? teehee!

I bought it about 2 months ago and now my plans have changed so I am tring to get rid of it to help fund my phase change project.
So no I never used it. It is a nice block and would perform well but I just never got around to using it. $190 down the drain :(

Nice looking yes, perform well, hmm. Depends on your definition of well. I doubt it would place anywhere near the top rank of current blocks. It seems to have an accelerator/cup arrangement, but rather simplistic in its execution when placed next to the Storm design which in itself is now considered last gen. Maybe for an older single core.
Anyway give it a go on Ebay and see what you get. Lots of noobs out there that will think, ooh that looks shiny so it must be good. Good luck with the phase change.Talk about a jump.

i presume it would be two out and one in but im not sure....
Anyone confirm this or say im wrong?

Middle is inlet, outers are outlets. The design looks a bit rudimentary, but I'd think it would be perfect for water chilling.

What's the theory behind two outlets?

Less pressure drop.
I believe the WW series are like that also.
I would have reqlly liked to see some benchmarks for that monster.

Alot of noobs on ebay might not even know what block that is. You might be better off selling it in an enthusiast forum. Just say its a rare item like the g5 storm :D

some data for you guys
Pentium D 920 on a P5WD2-E Premium
running at 4.2Ghz
Idle: Apogee 42C
Stinger V5 28C
Load: Apogee 52C
Stinger V5 38C
Note though the block I have is Stinger V8 and that data is about the Stinger V6. Still impressive. Also have found some more internal pictures here which ill post shortly.

yah I got some more.
But look at this I just found
"I would say with the V8....Ive sucessfully OCed my E6600 to 3.333Ghz and 5 hours Orthos Stable with Load temps of about 33C Room temp. 25C", This is his screenshot;

You will notice the V6 I just posted pictures of is smaller in size and only has 1 inlet and 1 outlet.. The V8 on the other hand, the block I originally posted as someone said has 1 inlet and 2 outlets and would be perfect for a water chilled application.

Something doesn't look right here.
Water cooling on idle should be pretty close to room temperature, it couldn't possibly be idling at 42c.
I have an Apogee on a Q6600, idle/load = 30/41c (25c room). The TDP for a 920 is 95w and the Q6600 is 105w but I have the Q6600 30% overclocked so that's at least 135w; the overclocking on the 920 gives 145w. How can a 135w make 41c on my apogee (70% fan speed as well) but 145w produces 52c on the reference apogee at the same room temperature? That is a huge heat difference with no apparent explanation.
That comparison looks more like air to water, than two water blocks.

Apparantly the guy who got the temps said his water temp was low and that was the reason.... lol im not even sure what to beleive in that regard but I posted the source links to show his setup and how he claims those temps if you want to look at it.
The other bench results of that e6600 with the orthos and cpuz shot is legit. I know that.
