help with xp 64

good afternoon everyone.
about 40% of the CDs/DVDs i burn become coasters.. i've updated firware, drivers, and reinstalled nero... i wanted to change from DMA to PIO in hardware manager and saw this.

is this normal?

What are your system specs, including the configuration of your drives (HDD's - specify SATA or PATA, CD/DVD's, etc.)? Which controllers are they connected to, and what's their position on the cable?

also. i was looking in device manager some more.. and there's a few things that repeat. it says i have 2 each of the monitors i have, i only have two, but it shows a total of four. man. i'd really hate to have to reinstall.

anywho, any suggestions?

Boot to Safe Mode and remove all of the multiple hardware entries listed in Device Manager... XP will rebuild the hardware list upon next boot.
